  • Looks Can Be Deceiving for 4th Gen iPhone

Parts for the 4th gen iPhone have surfaced. And some iPhone obsessed Apple fanatics are peeved that no major design changes appear to be in store for the iPhone's big upgrade, likely planned for early this summer. The "outrage" was sparked by photos freshly posted by iResQ, which claims that their photos reveal a 4th gen iPhone that is almost impossible to distinguish from the present model.

As soon as I began reading about this alleged photo leak, I had a flashback to what my mother always told me - beauty is in the eye of the beholder because it's what's on the inside that counts.

Ah, yes - what's on the inside. These photos, if legit, only communicate to us that the 4th gen iPhone will look and feel a lot like the iPhones of the past. But is that really a bad thing? What these photos can't convey are the things that will make the next iPhone an A+ according to Steve Jobs. The photos tell us nothing about whether the device will be capable of multitasking. Or the prospective mega pixel upgrade for the device's camera. And what about the million other suspected upgrade rumors we've been hearing about for months.

What can we deduce from these pics?

    1) The LCD appears to be factory glued to the digitizer.
    2) The iPhone 4G front panel seems to be about 1/4" longer than its predecessors.
    3) There is an interesting reflective, mirror-like surface directly above the speaker.
There is nothing about the leaked photos of the 4th gen iPhone that should give anyone compelling reason for disappointment - unless, of course, you were hoping for a major handset redesign. Otherwise, keep in mind that it's what's on he inside that counts - advice that applies to the iPhone too.

      Just sayin'.
They could put an aluminium back on the 3G/3GS - it would be fine if you didn't actually want a signal....

I had no signal issues with the original iPhone. I had volume issues. It was a very quiet phone even with the volume maxed out. The signal hoopla is crap. They switched to plastic because it is cheaper.

The original iPhone had a plastic piece over the 2G aerial.
The 3G and 3GS also have a 3G aerial as well as the 2G aerial. If the back was metal you would have no signal. If the back had the same amount of plastic as the 2G you would have 2G signal only.
With a plastic back you get 2G and 3G signal.
      Your choice.

My choice lays with doubling the thickness of the phone so I can free myself from the dependency of an electrical outlet for a day or two

Why on earth is apple so obsessed with size. I would gladly have the iPhone twice as thick with a decent battery that could be removed/replaced with ease. It could still hold all the style and shape of the current model.

      getting it, no matter what.
it should be faster with better batterylife. dont really care about anything else

I would not like the iPhone to be thicker - I've had enough of carrying round bricks. I would prefer more battery life but not at the expense of size.
For me the iPhone is almost the perfect form.

Why else would there be a business card underneath the photo???
I totally agree..This is utter crap! However, if any of the above is confirmed, and there's nothing that really qualifies as A+, then I'll have used my last iphone when my contract runs out...

if these photos are true...my biggest disappointment would be no front facing camera for an iChat type thing other than that the phone will probably still be way better than that silly ol 3GS thats why i waited haha

That little mirrored button above the speaker is obvious. You press it in when on the phone with someone and it makes them speak in Chipmunk.

How did you guys not guess that already?

      Don't be silly.

It's a mirror so it makes them speak backwards.

Ahh. True. However, the 64gb will come with backwards-Chipmunk voice. Or is that for the 5G?

Here's what Apple will do with the 4G.
32 gb will be available in your choice of black or white, the 64 gb will be an aluminum unibody. 32 gb will be 199 with a contract and the unibody 64 gb will be 299. I mean, that makes sense considering how Apple has been rolling out their products. The only thing is, they would have to show me a phone that is wayy better than any phone out there in order for me to drop the cash for a 4g...good battery life is a must lol

Again that is just my thoughts
