  • Charge Two iPhones from One USB Port via DuaLink

It's two iPhone chargers in one! Yes, the DuaLink cable for the iPod and iPhone serves up its own fun-sized USB hub that, as you would expect from a title like the one above, comes with a sole USB connector on one end and two iPod/iPhone connectors on the other.

    From MacWorld:

Cable vendor CableJive has introduced the DuaLink, a USB dock-connector cable for iPods and iPhones that lets you charge and sync two devices simultaneously.
As one can clearly see from the image of the DuaLink in action, CableJive was thoughtful enough to "bulk up" the cables used
for DuaLink, which seem capable of withstanding more wear and tear than the flimsy default cable that Apple packs with iPhones
    and iPods.

According to CableJive, the $26 DuaLink works its magic by including a two-port USB 2.0 hub inside the cable itself. The DuaLink also uses heavy-duty cable and includes a lifetime warranty.

Obviously practical (and pretty cool to boot) the concept of being able to charge or sync two Apple devices simultaneously
is borderline revolutionary. And given the affordability (according to some ) of the DuaLink, this nifty thing could catch on.

The DuaLink measures nine inches in length and, in case you're wondering, it is, indeed, compatible with all iPhones and iPods - but not the iPod shuffle.

$26 ?!? What a joke! And for what? The "option" to charge two devices from one USB Port. This is the most pointless "news" post I've ever seen on MMi

I've never had two iDevices connect at once, does iTunes kick up a fuss or is it cool with it?

I could use this but at $26 I agree with others as it being overpriced. I'd rather take up 2 ports charging my iPhone and nano.

Aside from the fact that it's about four feet too short, I think it's an awesome idea.

How slow does this charge? USB only supplies 5V so each device will only be getting 2.5V and take longer to charge.

Every USB port I have tested puts out ONLY the spec'ed 500ma except the MBA which outputs more to drive the DVD-R external option. Almost all 2.5" hard drives draw .48-.49amps of +5 and they barely make it with most Mac USB. iPhone 3G and 3Gs definitely will not charge on anything less than .5A of +5. I have tested it with some Wall plug with USB out that are only rated at .4A and they do not work with iPhone3G or 3Gs. So how do they expect this siamese charger to fine 1A of +5 from a single host USB port?????

Do the math before you buy.

      You've been warned!

As others have pointed out, a standard USB port barely has enough power to charge an iPhone, it won't do two.
Are USB ports in such short supply that people are willing to fork out that much money for this? Powered USB hubs are a lot cheaper if they are.
