  • [3GS] iBoot-359.3.2 - No 24kpwn! Apple Actively Working Against Jailbreaks
    chainsaws problem

Edit Poseidon: Well guys... Apple finally patched the exploit in the bootrom that has been allowing redsn0w and pwnage tool to work. There are now new 3GS iPhone in the wild that have a new version of iBoot that will not be jailbreakable until a new exploit is found! Better hurry up and buy em while you can... may not last long.

    "@MuscleNerd @geohot @iphone_dev There is a new iphone 3GS Bootrom iBoot- (24kpwn no workie)" - Mathieu Hervais
    "yay! new 3gs bootrom apparently kills 24kpwn." - cpich3g
"oh oh, from what @cpich3g + @Mathieulh have found so far, a normal untethered JB may be in jeopardy in brand new 3GS units" - MuscleNerd
hurry purchase old 3GS asap before new1 hits the shelves.

No sir. It's a gamble. For those of you that have been around a while remember when the first generation iPhones started shipping with the 4.6 Bootloader with firmware 1.1.2 OTB? Yeah this is kind of the same thing where an entirely new method has to be written to jailbreak.

this is why I'm starting to look at android. Apples iron claw over their OS is crazy. We buy the phone we should be able to do whatever we want with it. I really hope geohot or the dev-team can figure it out. I guess I'm keeping my 3G for a little longer than I wanted too!

Blackra1n will not work either. They are all using the same 24kpwn exploit right now

Someone will find a way....there is always a way.

I thought the custom IPSW thing would work regardless of the iBoot exploit. Basically just faking out the iPhone to think it is installing a valid IPSW....maybe I interpreted things wrong.

I am trying to figure out why they do **** like this. It's not like all iPhone customers are jailbreaking. They should sell the phone free of restrictions. Charge me extra, I really don't care. When I buy it, I fu@kin own it. This is America. Let me as the consumer, take and accept the risk of jailbreaking. If I screw my phone, I'll buy another one. It's that simple. All this cat and mouse crap is making freakin sick. I do hope the Dev team stays the course. What Apple ought to do is just allow creativity and allow app so we can theme and control the device. Package the jailbreak tools and sell them. There is a market, right?

The custom IPSW uses the 24kpwn exploit to load itself

Not like they would take the job anyway, but why doesn't Apple just hire these guys. Obviously they can create better software then they can. What a joke...I guess I better buy a backup 3G S now just to be safe.

Not surprising really. Apple re-wrote the new baseband to close all the unlocking holes so it was really a matter of time until they patched the bootrom exploit. The cat and mouse game continues.....I just hope the cat doesn't end up eating the mouse.

Does Apple go these extremes with its computers as it does with the iPhone?

I hate to say it but Apple can't keep this closed garden that they cherish so much. It was fine when they were the only game in town when it came to great smart phones, but they aren't anymore. They need to open the platform.
