  • Daylight Savings Time Wreaks Havoc on iPhones... Again

Daylight Savings Time has struck again. On Sunday, many iPhone users started complaining about their iDevice botching the time change. Rather than pushing the iPhone clock one-hour forward, a lot of iPhones went the other direction - that is, setting clocks back an hour instead. By Sunday morning there was a large but unknown number of iPhone users two hours behind schedule according to mobile device.

Although this isn't the first time that a seasonal time change has befuddled the iPhone (on New Year's day there were alarm-related issues, just as there were at the end of daylight savings time last November), today was the first time the issue actually trended with some gusto on Twitter. On Sunday morning it seemed everyone was full of complaints about the unexplained two-hour mix-up.

Of course, many iPhone owners have been through this situation before. And they're well aware of the easy fix. If your iPhone's clock was somehow mistakenly set back, simply shut down the device and then restart it. Switching the iPhone to “airplane mode” and then back will also do the trick.

I have an iPhone 4. I have kept the 4.2.1 and not upgraded the software. On Sunday the time was correct on my phone, but at midnight on Monday at midnight it went back to 11:00pm ??!?? I repowered the phone and the wrong hour came up but then populated the correct time once it connected with the cell tower. Problem solved on my end. My wife's phone has the 4.3 software. She had no problems at all. I am curious what software folks had if they had the time problem.

None of my alarms are working after rebooting my phone. I also tried putting it into airplane mode.

      I have a jailbroken iPhone 4 on iOS 4.1

i dont think anyone can figure it out or apple is not trying. this is the 3rd time. my 3gs jb 3.1.3 had no problem but my girlfriend's iphone 4 bought 3 weeks ago on jb 4.2.1 did not change time when it hit 2am. when i turned off "set automactically" for the time it corrected itself. this was the main reason why i would not switch to 4.X firmware because they cant seem to fix the clock issue and i rely on my iphone alarm. when im traveling or not home the iphone alarm is the only thing that i have that can wake me up.

iPhone 4 on 4.2.1 same issue after midnight. Thanks MMI I would have been late tomorrow had I not checked the news section! I rebooted and now all is well. Just to be safe, I deleted all my alarms and reset new. Again thanks for the heads up.

Mine changed from 2am to 3am just like it was supposed to, but then earlier tonight, my clock went from 11 to 10. Turning off auto-clock set it back another hour to 9. It's set at a manually correct time now but this is annoying.

i didn't have any issues until Monday morning (today) where my iPhone woke me up at 4:00 AM EST instead of 5:00 AM EST... I then set an alarm for 6:00 AM EST to try and counter act the problem and the alarm did not go off at 5:00 AM. Really strange... I just toggled Airplane mode and did a shut down/restart after reading this thread.

My Verizon iPhone 4 changed time without a problem, maybe it's AT&T's network that is having the problems.
