  • Apple Fans (But Not Apple) Gearing Up For Macworld 2011

It's hard to believe that it's already time once again for Macworld. Well, at least it's time to register. Macworld 2011 isn't going to officially kick off until late next January. But if is true that the early bird gets the worm, this especially holds true for early registrants to the convention. Not only will early birds get the proverbial worm, they'll also get it for free.

Macworld has opened its online registration (expo-only) for the 2011 event. And get this. Anyone who registers before July 26th will get their ticket at no charge. Thereafter the standard ticket price will apply. In other words, from July 27th forward, expo-only registration will cost $25. If you wait until the very last minute - January 25-29 - you will have to register on site for $50.

As usual, Macworld Expo will take place at San Francisco's Moscone Center. The Mac trade show spans January 26-29, but the expo kicks off January 27th. Separate registration is required for the various conferences held during the four day period. And it looks like we won't have pricing and scheduling data on those conferences until well into fall.

It should come as no surprise that with Apple now unwilling to participate in the annual event, Macworld has seen its figurative sprint deteriorate into a limp in the eyes of many Apple fans. Nonetheless, a great turnout is still anticipated for the conference as thousands of Apple loyalists from across the planet will converge on the Moscone Center yet again. But with Apple out of the picture, any eventual hype surrounding Macworld 2011 will have to come from the third party software and accessory makers who pretty much now headline the event, as Apple executives all but certainly won't be on hand to roll out any new products or updates.
