  • New Macbook Pros with Core i5 & i7 Processors

Today Apple gave some major internal hardware upgrades to their Macbook Pro line. The 15" and 17" models now come standard with Intel Core i5 processors and each is further upgradeable to a Core i7. All the models received better batteries with up to 10 hours of use on the 13" and 8-9 hours on the larger models. The 13" model now has an upgraded NVIDIA GeForce 320M video card and the 15"/17" get a GT 330M. The processor on the 13" model remains the Core 2 Duo with a slight speed bump. All models now come with 4GB of DDR3 RAM standard.

I got the 15" 2.66Ghz MBP, June 09 I got it, and your post persuaded me not to upgrade it. I guess I'll keep it as Modern Warfare 2 runs pretty smooth on Windows 7 Bootcamp
But then again the Core i5 processors look sweet but no Blu Ray drive, 2011 I guess it is

The price increments seem a bit too high between models for what your getting really. I only got my 15" MBP in September so I'm good for another few years.
I think Apple should drop the entry level 13" to $999 and do away with the plastic unibody macbook, they're just gonna upgrade the plastic macbooks to the GeForce 320m anywho.

Also, I've had this question in my head about any computer manufacturer.....for example are the i5 CPU's in the 15" models actually different, or are they the same CPU, just over or under clocked? Whats stopping you from buying the 2.4Ghz i5 model, and overclocking it to 2.53Ghz?

I bought the top of the line 15inch MacBook Pro 6 days ago!! So I took it back today and said I wanted to upgrade to the new 17 inch because it is now the same price and totally worth the $209 restocking fee. Greatest part about the whole thing is that they waved the fee and I got it for a straight trade!! They might be a little expensive but lets see you get that kind of customer service at best buy or one of those crap retailers!! Two thumbs up Apple....Stay Classy

Any way of modding that inertia scrolling to the rest of us? Looks like a cool feature.. Apple did say it was not available via a Software Update, although they said the same thing about multi-touch on the older MBP's and someone hacked it, then Apple released it in Snow Leopard anyways so I'm sure it's possible. We just need someone with the new models to find their trackpad kernel (or whatever .kext files are lol) and pass it to someone else who can then install it on their older MBP. Just like when people hacked multi-touch (and by multi-touch, I mean more than 2 fingers)

Macbook pros last a long time. No need to upgrade until something epic comes out.

Or you could sell on ebay and eat $200 or so and buy the new one

I just bought my 13" MBP on the 5th of this month, I think I'll take it back to Best Buy and exchange it for the newer model. Anyone see this being a problem?
