  • Some iPhone 4 Buyers Already iCamping

If the early bird gets the worm, perhaps the early bird will also get the new iPhone 4.

There are scattered reports around the country this weekend of people already setting up camp outside their nearest Apple store to wait in line until doors open on June 24th so that they may be the first to purchase and take home the updated Apple smartphone. As you may have heard in passing, the 4th generation iPhone has already encountered one or two supply problems.

Apparently the best way to ensure preordering is to take a week (or longer) and stand in line ahead of everyone else looking to purchase the same device. Justin Wagoner of Dallas, for example, is making headlines for being among the "fearless and loyal" Apple fans willing to set up camp and be the first to greet iPhone 4 when it officially arrives Thursday. Wagoner, who pitched his tent Wednesday, has already been in line and slept outside for three nights.

His only complaint? The heat. "The heat is just killing me," the 25-year-old tells the Dallas Morning News. And with predicted temperatures of at least 100 degrees each day through the end of next week, Wagoner will be sweatin' to the oldies on his iPod until the new iPhone 4 is in hand.

Although the online preorder program got off on the wrong foot (to say the least) with server crashes and security glitches of epic proportions, it's a safe bet that this dude would still be outside and in line even if he had the choice to painlessly preorder his device. You see, the Dallas native has a tradition going, as this extended wait marks the third time he's gone iCamping ahead of a new iPhone launch.

At least when June 24th finally does arrive, Wagoner won't have 600,000 people in front of him like many iPhone 4 shoppers encountered at the start of preordering.

Are iCampers not worried about getting jacked out there at night sleeping on the street? Sounds like an easy mark.

      My god...

Well, at least you can get the iPhone 4. That would suck if you camped and then there were sold out before you could even get to them.

He preordered one and has it reserved for him for release day. That just makes the whole ordeal idiotic.

And that makes sense. The idiocy lies in the fact that he'll have already been in his tent for 5(?) days when you first set up yours.

I was unable to get through on the 15th so I will be going to ATT early as well, but not days ahead, rather just 5 or 6 hrs.

@Cory Wow, just a little self righteous arent you? I appreciate all military for what they do but enlisting was a choice they made. Some sign up for different reasons but all should understand the risks before doing so. Im sorry you got injured but you understood that was a possibility going in and youve been paid monetarily for your service and most likely for your injuries as well. How about you concentrate on your recovery instead of trying to make yourself out to be a better person and american than someone who has chosen a different path in their life.

On subject: I'll be getting to the AT&T store about 2-3 hours before they open. General consensus is that they are getting aprox 50 phones for open sale, so hopefully Ill get one. If not, Ill just wait for the white one in august. Good luck to all you fellow non-preorderers.

I am getting in line at 5:00 Wednesday afternoon. My ATT store said they will have at least 100 phones. So my wife and I are camping out together. Should be fun.

I don't think he is self-righteous, he served in the military for his and everyone elses rights and was injured. It does take certain person to join the military or everyone would do it, don't knock him for it. You're right it doesnt make him or other military memebers better people but it does make him very patriotic to risk his own life for the safety of yours! Just remember that when you speak your mind freely and have the rights that you do compared to other countries. And yes I am in the military as well.

SUBJECT: Let the guy camp if he wishes, me personally I reserved mine and will be online about 1-2 hours early.

A fair chunk of people sign up for the military cos they can not function properly in normal life. These people don't sign up to 'protect your rights', they sign up cos they're bored, they sign up cos it's either the military or prison, their pals are joining up, they think it's gonna be an easy ride for a few years.

You're right; it does take a certain type of person to join the military. It also takes a certain type of person to work in KFC.

regardless, these people are doing something others can't/won't. a guy in my unit was court ordered to join the military and turned his life around and is a great guy. Don't bash military people. If you don't like it don't talk about it or leave the country and if ur not in the US then I def. don't wanna hear ur opinion. Easy to give it from the sidelines. BC 9 out of 10 times people will back OUR troops/sailors.

If you don't like it don't talk about it? Nice attitude there, soldier.

People support the troops cos they actually believe you're usually doing a good thing. History usually proves otherwise.

It's a pity you don't learn proper English in the military, cos I thought communication was kinda important.

Anyway, glad your pal is doing OK. Wonder how the people he robbed, beat, stabbed, in his previous life, are doing now.

I didnt knock him for it just trying to point out how he jumped down someones throat. Youre right it does take a certain person to be in the military but it also takes a certain person to be a Cop, a Fireman, Teacher, NHL player, Mob boss...anything really. Everyone is unique and has special talents or is born to do certain things, its not exclusive to military folks.

Exactly what redcard said...Great attitude soldier. "if you dont agree with me get out of the country"...WOW. From your opinion I take that you feel that no other country has had citizens put their life on the line for country or cause, only America. Yeah, thats not self righteous at all.

A friend of mine was court ordered to attend drug/alcohol treatment and it turned his life around and he is a great guy also but I guess your friend is better because he went the military route?
