  • Mozilla Rolling Out "Firefox Home" for the iPhone

Our developer friends behind Mozilla's Firefox have their sights set on the iPhone platform, as evidence by the brand spankin' new Firefox Home app, which is now in development. The application is exciting no shortage of iPhone and Mozilla Firefox fans because it will essentially enable users to readily access their personal desktop Firefox data.

Although Mozilla has previously rolled out a Firefox web browser for Mac OS X running on more than one Apple system, this application takes the mobile Firefox experience one step further by providing iPhone users with everything from browsing history to the tabs used during their last browser session.

In a nutshell, the app is made possible by Mozilla Sync, which synchronizes data between two desktop browsers with the Sync add-on. But when you set up Firefox Home on your iPhone, the Sync functionality enables you to access the aforementioned browser data whenever or wherever you may roam. At least that's how Mozilla is describing the process to work.

Unfortunately for Firefox fanatics, Mozilla is not going to push ahead with a native iPhone browser (even though a version of Firefox for Android is already in the works). For now, though, Firefox Home should pacify many. And, in case you're wondering, the app will even work on the iPad, although Mozilla warns that it isn't optimized to do so.

doubt it, firefox has no where near the resources for something like that, and with google coming in the situation i doubt they will want to go to war with them, im not sure but i think google might actually pay mozilla to have google as the main search engine on firefox. Also if they make a thunderbird app i sure hope they improve thunderbirds features as its not really amazing.
apple mail app can do pretty much everything thunderbird would do. Also they are way to focused on keeping 1st place in the browser wars, they are slacking in terms of speed right now and have a lot of bugs and problems that need ironing. firefox 4 should give a big upgrade to speed but no one knows for sure until its out. Opera is fastt. even though it crashes a lot on mac, but 10.50 is still basically in the beta phase still for mac

Like other Messany News. Useless, theres nothing relevant here, why they keep on leting this guy to write stuff. Why dont you wait til its out and make a review of it, that will be more useful.

Dear. Lord. Yes! I would love to be in sync with all my data no matter what device I'm on. And the best part about this is that it's mobile agnostic -- I can use it on webOS too (I have an iPhone spoofing agent on my Palm Pre).

So what does this app actually DO if it isn't a browser? Maybe I'm dumb but I'm a bit confused...

It's a website you go to in Safari that optimized for iPhone viewing. You sign in and then have access to all your bookmarks, homepage, etc.
