  • Guess Who's Going to Kick Off WWDC on June 7TH?

Talk about bringing out the big guns for the start of the show!

    Apple announced today
that its annual Worldwide Developers Conference (WWDC) will begin Monday, June 7 at 10:00 a.m. PST with a keynote address by CEO Steve Jobs. During his presentation, it is widely expected that Jobs will unveil the 4th generation iPhone. If so, he will have a sizable audience of developers in his midst. According to this morning's press release from Apple, this year’s WWDC sold out in record time. It took only eight days for some 5,000 developers to gobble up every seat in the house.

admin edit: including ours. Make sure you're checking in here that day - we'll be covering the keynote live from San Francisco!

This year's event will mark Steve Jobs' return to the WWDC stage, as the Apple head honcho was out on medical leave during the '09 conference. Next month, however, Jobs will not have to pass the exciting responsibility of rolling out a new iPhone to a colleague. Instead, he gets to run the show himself this time. As you may recall, it was Apple Chief Operating Officer Tim Cook who introduced an upgraded model of the iPhone at the previous event.

Adding further excitement to the conference this year are the planned sessions on tap for WWDC 2010. They include: Application Frameworks; Internet & Web; Graphics & Media; Developer Tools; and Core OS. During the five-day event (June 7 - June 11) Apple engineers will serve up better than 100 solutions-oriented technical sessions and labs in order to give an "incredibly diverse community the opportunity to connect with thousands of fellow iPhone, iPad and Mac developers from around the world."

Can anyone give me a realistic timescale if a new iPhone is announced during the WWDC? I'm in the UK - so I guess as with everything else Apple (iPhone, iPad - available in the UK on Friday!!, iPod Mini + heaps of others) we'll be a couple of months behind.

I gave up on my 3G and now have an HTC HD2 (which I hate!) and have a cheap 3GS arriving in the next couple of days to keep me going until the 4G comes out! Thankfully I have no contract ties at the moment - so I can sign up for whoever offer the new iPhone with the best deal

My only dream is that the iPhone becomes immediately available after the announcement.
