  • How to Jailbreak Your iOS 8.1.3-8.x Device With TaiG for Windows and Mac OS X

TaiG released an official jailbreak for iOS 8.1.3, iOS 8.2, iOS 8.3, and iOS 8.4, which are the latest public firmwares Apple has released. It is a Windows and Mac OS X jailbreak.

This Windows and Mac OS X guide will teach you how to jailbreak various devices using TaiG for iOS 8.1.3, iOS 8.2, iOS 8.3, iOS 8.4. The current version of TaiG is version 2.4.3 for Windows and 1.1.0 for Mac OS X. Note that this is an UNTETHERED JAILBREAK, which means you can reboot your iOS device just like you normally would without having to plug into a computer.

This guide should be used with the following devices on iOS 8.1.3, iOS 8.2, 8.3, or 8.4 (if you're not sure, here's how to find your iOS firmware version and how to find your iOS device type):

    • iPod touch 5g
    • iPod touch 6g
    • iPhone 4s
    • iPhone 5
    • iPhone 5s
    • iPhone 5c
    • iPhone 6
    • iPhone 6 Plus
    • iPad Mini
    • iPad Mini 2
    • iPad Mini 3
    • iPad 2
    • iPad 3
    • iPad 4
    • iPad Air
    • iPad Air 2

    1. Download TaiG for Windows or Mac OS X

The first thing you have to do before you can actually jailbreak your device is download the latest version of TaiG. To do that, you can head over to this link to download the Windows version or you can head over to this link to download the Mac OS X version.

    2. Prepare Your iOS Device

The first thing you should always do before jailbreaking is back up your device. That way, if anything goes wrong, you can always restore to your most recent working condition. You can use iCloud, or you can use iTunes (recommended).

TaiG needs your iOS device to have Touch ID and any passcode you have set to be turned OFF; Find my iPhone also needs to be turned OFF. You can turn them back on after the jailbreak. To do this, go to Settings > Touch ID & Passcode > turn off the top three green sliders, and Settings > iCloud > Find My iPhone > Turn off the top green slider. You will also want to enable Airplane Mode before you jailbreak. If you don't follow these steps, you're going to experience problems trying to jailbreak, so play it safe, and go ahead and follow these steps before you attempt this jailbreak.

    3. Launch the Jailbreak Application

Now that your device is ready, you can un-zip the file you downloaded by right-clicking on the zip file and selecting "Extract All." Next, you can right click on the TaiG jailbreak application icon and select "Run as Administrator" to open the application:

    When prompted, trust the application:

Note: if you're using Mac OS X, then just launch the tool like you would any other application, and when prompted to open the application you just downloaded from the Internet, proceed.

    4. Start the Jailbreak Process

After you have the application running, you should plug in your iOS device that you intend to jailbreak. Once it is found, you should see a screen similar to the one below. You want to DESELECT the 3k Assistant check box so that only Cydia is installed on your jailbroken device:

Once you do that, you can click Start and the jailbreak process will begin. Your iOS device may reboot multiple times throughout the jailbreak process. This is normal, just wait, relax, be patient, and hold out until the end:

When the process is over, TaiG will tell you when you're all finished:

At this point, your iOS device may tell you that your storage is almost full. This is also normal. Just open the Cydia application from your Home Screen, and your device will take care of some storage housekeeping, and then your device will reboot one last time.

    5. You're All Done!

Well that was easy, wasn't it? Check the bottom of the Cydia page, and you'll see that you're jailbroken on iOS 8.3:

Please note that most jailbreak extensions are not yet ready for iOS 8.3. Over the course of the next few days, weeks, and months, many packages will be updated for compatibility. Stay tuned to ModMyi to stay up to date on important jailbreak extension updates!

64 bit worked fine for me on Win 7. I am unable to get into my phone Settings and the notification shade freezes my phone, though. Heading back to stock.

First I had the iTunes not installed - bug. Installed the recommended older version of iTunes. Then I had the 20% bug. Jailbreak failed. There's no word at TaiG that this is only running on outdated 32bit systems. Tried it on two (!) different newer windows computers, 64 Bit, windows 7. This jailbreak is a real ******** TaiG !

So if I read this correctly, the JB will not work if you have version 12.1.1.4 of iTunes (which is the current Windows version) installed?

You need itunes 12.0.1 or older for jailbreak to work.

An earlier version of iTunes should be installed, such as 12.1.0, or 12.0.1 for this jailbreak to work.

I have downgraded my iTunes 12.0.1 32bit and I am still stuck at 20%
I tried going to iTunes version 12.1.0 and still 20%.

I have tried this on my MAC w/ Parallel Win 10 Tech Preview, A Windows 8 32bit PC, and a Vista (yeah Vista) 64bit PC and I am still at 20%...

Over the past 20 hours I did get to 60% twice but it froze there, so I started all over again.

I did update to 8.3 via iTunes originally, is that the problem?
I didn't want to restore because I didn't want to loose the multiple sub folders I created to keep things orderly.

Ive tried to restore via the "alt" 8.3 ipsw restore file so that I didn't loose all my sub folders (to stay organized)
I don't have any anti virus software running on my virtual machine (iMAC / Parallel) nor on neither PC's.
I actually just rebuilt a 32bit Windows 8 machine jus to try to get this to work.
      Still 20%.......

      Any advise?

      Thanks

If your stuck at 20% while jailbreaking, you'll have to use the older version of iTunes.
