  • Musclenerd Reveals iPhone OS 4.0 Jailbreak

These days, the jailbreaks are coming fast and furious.

The iPhone dev has an exploit that apparently works like a charm for iPhone OS 4.0. Musclenerd (of iPhone Dev Team) has just released a new YouTube video revealing a jailbroken iPhone OS 4.0 with VNC server App. Unfortunately, the vid is brief and reveals nothing about the actual jailbreak. Obviously, we can only assess that the iPhone OS 4.0 is jailbroken because the VNC server doesn't come with stock iPhone 04 4.0 firmware.

    [ame="http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=TmgriOT_9kI&feature=player_embedded"]http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=TmgriOT_9kI&feature=player_embedded[/ame]

Sadly, just as we have to wait for the new iPhone hardware, the iPhone Dev Team similarly won't reveal the iPhone OS 4.0 Jailbreak solution until Apple rolls out the new iPhone later this summer.

If it seems that new Apple releases are getting hacked faster and faster, you would be right. On April 4th, the day after the iPad's release, MMI reported that MuscleNerd had already gained root access to the iPad using using Spirit, comex's jailbreak solution. He was able to install non-approved applications, not mentioned run them simultaneously - kind of like the multitasking capabilities that Apple has now officially sanctioned.

Apple will release (the jailbreakable) iPhone OS 4 this summer for both the iPhone and iPod Touch. For iPad owners, however, the OS get the red carpet roll out until this fall. But the excitement surrounding the jailbreak potential of the OS is, indeed, palpable within the jailbreak community. And, consequently, it will be an exciting year for us all.

Uhhh. I for one still care about 3.1.3 . Surely not all of these unlocks are coming from the same exploit, so whats the harm in one team releasing an unlock.

I'm tired of people saying 3.1.3 is useless. Yes, it was a worthless update, but 90% of the people stuck on 3.1.3 were due to acquiring the phone on this firmware, not because it was a choice or accidental upgrade. Many of us are phone-less right now because of it.

The devs don't care about 3.1.3 users

Will there also be an unlock to go along with the jailbreak?

      Battery issues? What battery issues?

If you've got battery problems, then it can be fixed with 3.1.2 and todays jb's.

Looking forward to OS4.0 and the Jailbreak. I'll have to move onto a 3GS (at least), seems like my 3G is almost obsolete now

You're obviously not included in the "phone-less" group seeing as your on 3.1.2...and the new iPhone will have 4.0, which is another reason to focus on that and not 1.3.

Awesome progress though, can't wait to actually use it!

I have both an original iPhone and a 3G. I am fortunate to have both, while others are not so lucky. My point still stands.

Apple is failing at stopping jailbreaking faster and faster! I like it!

I think they should save the exploit for 5.0. That way apple won't patch it......it only makes sense!

Yea it's supposed to be a joke lol. But I was thinking, wouldnt a jailbreak for a beta be alot easier than the final release?

This is all great but why not release a jailbreak and unlock for us who are on 3.1.3 rather than keep teasing us.

      Hi all,
I have an iPhone 3G 8Gb running on 3.1.3 with jailbreak, come on guys, you need to use google more, i found the jailbreak 2 days after 3.1.3 was released!
I used sn0wbreeze and it worked like a charm, i upgraded iTunes to 9.1 and contrary to everything i read in the blogs online, i have no problem syncing my iPhone to iTunes.

If you want to jailbreak on 3.1.3 search for sn0wbreeze on google!

P:S, Snowbreeze will only allow jailbreak if you "accidently" upgraded, if you need to unlock you should be careful as the new 3.1.3 software upgrades your baseband and makes it impossible to unlock, if it's just jailbreak you are looking for then use sn0wbreeze, if you want to unlock aswell then you should be careful, although, from the info i have read on the net, there is a way of upgrading to 3.1.3 while preserving the older baseband.
I didn't bother with this as i do not intend to use any SIM other than that of the official carrier.

If you own an iPhone 3GS, please note that Sn0wBreeze 3.1.3 only supports non-MC Models with older bootrom and plus if you have upgraded 3GS to OS 3.1.3 you’re still out of luck.

This is nice to hear. However I won't wait 2-3 months for a jailbreak. I was enjoying my jailbroken 3gs that I bought release day. It could be restored to 3.0 any tine I chose to. Then it just died on me. Had no choice but to get a replacement. Wouldn't you know 3.1.3. If the jailbreak isn't released soon it's so long iPhone. I've paid a lot for apps that I can't use now.
So it's good news that 4.0 can be jailbroken but release it for 3.1.3 already. I'm sure I'm not the only person that had to get a replacement.
