    After first being dangled in front of us almost a year ago, mobile IM fanatics are going nuts over the arrival of Meebo's long awaited iPhone app, which is finally available for download.

    Meebo is integrated, all-in-one instant messaging that connects you with your friends everywhere.
    While it's much too premature to assess whether the app will live up to the yearlong hype, early reports by users hail the application as a nice alternative to competing services that, for the great price of nothing, still serves up the attributes we most want - like chat logs, push notifications, etc.

    Meebo, which requires iPhone OS 3.0 or later, supports AIM, Yahoo, Windows Live Messenger, Google Talk, Facebook, MySpace and like a gazillion other networks.

    Haven't been big on Meebo in the past, but the nifty little iPhone app is pretty sweet when it comes to jumping to and from different conversations. Although I don't have many friends, if I ever get a hold of more than one in a single Meebo moment, I'll have no trouble navigating back and forth and tracking multiple IMs from multiple people. In this regard, Skype would be wise to note the features implemented by Meebo's iPhone app.

    Certainly more cost-effective than pricier services like Beejive or IM+, Meebo seems to be relevant again and building some momentum with its new iPhone app.

      I love this app, but I hate the fact that there is no way to know which of your IM accounts a person is messaging you on.

      Installed it last night and immediately got rid of the free version of AIM. The push notifications work great, the interface is nice and clean, plus you can use it on tons of networks. It's a winner in my book!

      The only thing I'd like to see at this point is integrated photo sharing.

      Nimbuzz has been doing the same thing as this app for almost a year now... and nobody even really knows about it... not like it matters though, I switched tot he meebo app two days ago when it came out.

      have u guys tried ebuddy too ? it's pretty good, the only bad thing about it is that in the last version they decided to put ads on it, and make a paid app with no ads ¬¬ but besides that i think it was the best IM app that I had, but I'm gonna try meebo now /o/

      I was using eBuddy Free until I saw Meebo was released on the iPhone. I didn't like how eBuddy signed you off after like 2 hours of closing the app, but that was my only complaint for the free version. I'm loving eBuddy so far and push works great, but it would be cool if I could change my buddy icon from the app.

      It's not better than BeeJive, but it's free, fast and basic.

      I do as well. This keeps you logged on for 24 hrs, loads up TONS faster than both IM+ and BeeJive to reply to a pushed notification, and best of all, it's ad-less and free.

      (better than Trillian which I paid for :P)

      The push IMs actaully get annoying as hell when you are in the middle of doing something and your phone will not shut up

      I remember when they announced the 3G iPhone and OS 3.0. Meebo was one of the apps that was demoed and I was looking forward to it. It took them so long before they actually came out with it. I've been using Beejive and will always use Beejive. If you want a free alternative to Beejive then Meebo is a good alternative.

      ^That is a good point.
      Anyone who wants IM has now bought one. Had this been released earlier I would have probably used it but to late for me.
      Oh well, I'm sure lots of others will be pleased with it.
      I wonder how they make their money though?

      But.. can it connect to and function with IRC properly..? IRC truly makes for the best IM'ing, just see bash.org for proof.
