  • [NEW] 3G Unrestrictor for 3G & 3GS - (Replaces TrickerThreeG & VoIPover3G )

[App is now available via Cydia for $2.00.]

"3G Unrestrictor" is an iPhone application (for iPhone3G & the NEW 3GS!!!) which allows you to go around the iPhone's limitations while on 3G/EDGE. It allows those things by tricking applications into believing they are on WiFi, even though they are on 3G or EDGE. 3G Unrestrictor is the premium successor of the popular VoIPover3G app for the iPhone.

You can for example while on 3G/EDGE/GRPS:

Make free calls using VoIP software like Skype, Fring, Truphone and others
    Watch TV with SlingPlayer
Watch high quality YouTube Videos, just like on WiFi
    Download apps bigger than 10MB
    Download podcasts bigger than 10MB

    Verified applications:

    Skype
    Slingplayer
    YouTube
    AppStore
    iTunes Store
    Nimbuzz
    Fring
    Truphone
    FriendCaller
    SipPhone

Hmm, The application is a super cool application. Everyone should try it and can easily enjoy with friends. The tricky thing that shows it is on wifi is really fantastic.

This app is definitely worth the $2. Pure genius for the people that thought of this. My only question is, what are the apps that I have to set the ISDirect flag for? Is there a certain list of apps that can be available to let people know which apps this setting should be turned on for? That would be very helpful! Thanks though for the wonderful app!

So far I know only about the apps dailyme.tv and gamelofts UNO that need that flag and the flag is enabled automatically when you add the app for those two.
You should only enable it if the app is not unrestricted otherwise. For most apps you can ignore it.

      Greetings, crash-x

      This app is great.
If only it worked with BBC iPlayer I would be a very happy bunny.

Im going abroad next week. Will this help me get free calls via truephone?

If it tricks a 3g connection into thinking its wifi, will my network provider not charge me for using 3g abroad?

Or isit only handy to use in the same country that you're network is based?

It tricks your app. It doesn't trick your service provider.

iPhone 2G? Since there is no such thing, I guess the answer would be no.

Yes. But obviously the fastest speeds you will get are Edge speeds which means it might not be a very pleasant experience.

Ok guys, what about IPod Touch? I have IPod Touch 2nd, 3.0 firmware. The problem is that you cannot use skype calls over VPN as the software "thinks" that i'm on 3g or edge network ...
I know that similar problem have IPhone users when connected over VPN.

Have anyone tried to use 3g unrestrictor on IPod Touch, any success?

Personally I tried it and it does not work. I am thinking of making full RESET and try it again, however before would like to know if anyone was successful doing it?

      Thanks,

Since the iPod touch is not a phone, it doesn't have any network at all other than wifi. So, how would making an app think it is on wifi when you are without any wifi do any good? Even if the app thinks its on wifi, you have no network to connect to. 3G Unrestrictor doesn't somehow magically put a 3G radio into your iPod.
