    geohot has released the second revision of his windows iPhone 3GS jailbreak. This one includes:
    • Vista, Windows 7, International, 64-bit support
    • Less flakiness in the payload
    • Cydia tar cleaned up
    • Improved logging with slightly more useful errors
    • New kernel patches, codesign errors gone. Props posixninja
    • Added vm_map +x, passed vm_check
    • No winterboard yet, but now that ball is in Saurik's court :-)
    • Still in beta, use caution
    You can download from purplera1n.com. Usage is the same so just follow our guide (windows) OR our OS X guide.

    7/5 UPDATE: Mac version of purplera1n now available for download!

      Before you tried to re-jailbreak it, did you have Freeze hidden with SBSettings? If you did, then that is why it wouldn't show on the springboard.

      RC2 works perfect over RC1. pushed make it rain took a sh*t and it was done!!

      You know what that probably was the exact issue. I feel stupid now haha. Do you know if there's any way to get it to show back up in that situation, without restoring?

      Thanks to Geohot for version 2. Worked perfectly over vs 1 on Vista 32. And so good to see Cydia working soooooo fast.

      Any word from the dev team on when they intend to release theirs?

      Since this is RC2 does geohot intend to release OSX version or does he just do windows versions?

      And since this involves "New kernel patches" does that mean the folks that used RC1 have to redo JB ?

      RC2 can be used over RC1 without re-jailbreaking. As far as I know, GeoHot does NOT have a Mac so I'd only expect Windows releases from him.

      Hold power+home to restart and it *should* start into the splash screen for purplera1n.

      Was it stuck in Recovery Mode? Nvm, you got it working.

      ya who cares who is doing what , they are doing it isn't that enough ?

      Folks don't go borg and insist that things have to done only one way.

      I haven't used GeoHot's JB yet and may wait for the Dev Team but I thank them both
      for their efforts to keep JB alive.

      For those who are stuck in recovery mode with the iTunes screen, just open up quickpwn and follow the first screen of instructions to get out of recovery mode...it will say to hold down the power and home button for 15 secs to get out of recovery, then just close it.

      Yeah, go to Settings and enable restrictions and then disable restrictions. That should make it show up on the springboard. I think Restrictions is under General but I'm not sure. If that doesn't work then SSH into the iPhone with WinSCP. Go to /var/mobile/Library/Preferences and delete com.apple.springboard.plist. Respring your iPhone by typing “killall SpringBoard” into SSH or just reboot.

      my wifi id disconnect and when i press safari im still surfing why?


      i want to when i press the safari not to be able to surf only with wifi
      now i turn off all the network stuff and it still surfing

      any idea???

      Install SBSettings and turn the 3G and Edge toggles to off. Then, you will only be able to use the internet when connected to wifi. Or you could put in a bogus APN to keep it from ever connecting unless on wifi.

      This is my first iphone and first time jailbreaking it. I jailbroke 1st try with RC1 and also 1st try with RC2. Parallels wouldn't get the iPhone to show up after trying everything with the drivers and restarting services. So I just booted into XP through bootcamp and all was good with the drivers.

      I've got everything set up with sbsettings and netatalk the way I want it. Very cool and I am just waiting for winterboard to be patched by Saurik now that GeoHot patched the kernal with the files Saurik requested.

      Any advantages using this if I'm already jailbroken? Will tricker3g work with this?

      It fixes some kernal patches so that when Winterboard gets updated you can use it. Btw, you can just run RC2 over the RC1 jailbreak without having to restore.

      I don't think Tricker3G, Voipover3g, or any other thing like that works.
