  • TuneSwift Simplifies iTunes to iTunes Transferring

Christmas has come early for many "switchers" - those for whom transferring iTunes libraries between computers or among portable devices is a routine or otherwise recurring task. Given that syncing files between computers (particularly between Windows PCs and Macs) is not the most joyous of tasks, there will likely be some considerable comfort taken in the new CopyTrans application dubbed TuneSwift.

Here's what we're dealing with in a nutshell: TuneSwift can swiftly backup an iTunes library stored on your preferred iDevice. By using "incremental backups," storage updates are made simpler in the absence of having to update the complete library. The most desirable attribute, however, may be TuneSwift's ability to transfer an iTunes library to a new computer, a different location within the same computer, or even an external hard drive without a hitch.

Tuneswift is worth a mention not only in light of the neat service it provides, but because it will be available at no cost until March 15th (with promo code "tuneswift-acti-vate-me"). So if the holiday season brings with it a new computer, tablet, or iDevice of some variety, the prospect of transferring or backing up your iTunes library will be dramatically simplified with Tuneswift.

      From their website:

"Unfortunately CopyTrans Suite does not run on Macs.
You may consider our partner Xtremsoft's products."

This is disappointing. I thought it was for restoring and backing up your iDevice without resource-killing iTunes from the picture.

You enter the promo code once you download the program and do your first backup. It'll ask you for the code right before you do the backup.

If an exact copy can be transfered to another PC does that mean an Ipod or Iphone can be synched on both computers now with no issues or are we still stuck with one PC at a time only ?

Another way to activate is once you install the program there are 3 tabs, Main-Settings-Activate. I just clicked on the activate tab and put in the promo code and it worked great without having to start a back-up, etc.

There is something really wrong with this software.
I tried to do a backup and it said it will be 91GB!!!
I dont have 91GB of data in iTunes. Total of everything in iTunes is about 40GB, thats all movies apps and songs etc.

I copy the files over manually via LAN to the netbook and it was never 91GB.

Another problem is you have to activate it every time you load it up.
      it doesn't remember its activated.

Remember that iPhone, iPod Touch and iPad backups are backed up as well. You can deactivate that feature in the advanced settings(Settings -> Advanced settings... -> set general.backup.ios to no)

A few other users have reported the same problem and it will be fixed in version 1.09.

You may authorize up to five computers to play purchased content, but you can only sync your device with one iTunes library. It will erase everything in order to sync with a new iTunes library.
