Greenwich, Connecticut is the site of the latest Apple Store robbery. Tuesday's ransacking of the prominent outlet made national headlines given the magnitude of the robbery. Five burglars in all managed to secure what's estimated to be "tens of thousands of dollars" worth of Apple products. surveillance footage reveals how the individuals penetrated the store's glass doors and made a quick snatch of accessible items before speeding off in a waiting car.
According to Fox news, a strikingly similar burglary took place on December 6th at an Apple store in Woodcliff, N.J. Breaking through the obvious and very vulnerable glass facade, the burglars in this particular instance cleaned out the store's iPods, iPhones, and iPads in less than one minute. This was the same Apple Store that was cleverly broken into two years previously through the empty furniture store next door. Authorities have since charged three of the four individuals responsible for that break-in.
The frequency of Apple Store burglaries has been on the rise in recent months, with large stores in San Diego, Dallas, and Pittsburgh being targeted of late. There are presently better than 300 Apple Stores open around that world, with that number expected to climb by roughly fifty before the end of 2011.
wow, I live in New canaan not too far away and this blows my mind, there are police on foot on greenwich ave for directing traffic. I cant believe people had the balls to pull this.
NVM they did it at 3am.... I thought it was like the jewlery store robbery not too long ago in broad daylight.

Sounds like Apple should upgrade their "hardware" and ditch the glass.
Come on Steve.....u invented things nobody else thought of, with the help of a little patent infringement of course. Surely you can find a better way to secure your prized possessions no?
And surely these robbers can do better than a few laptops and maybe some desktops. I wanna hear about the ultimate shaft job on an Apple store.....a dozen guys breaking in with about two or three gutted out 15-passenger vans and just go to town and suck that whole store dry. Every laptop, desktop, iPad, iPhone, iPod, accessories, the stored cash, and then hop to the back and take everything that arrived in the most recent shipment. I mean just wipe that baby clean.
And then mail the stuff that can be tracked straight to Steve's front door at Apple headquarters all with shattered screens and completely useless.

Everyone is missing the hole picture here... stealing is not right no matter what it costs or how bad you want it. Stealing takes away from businesses... and hurts the people employed.
Also when Robberies take place like this it can ruin a area because people tend to be frightened of things like this...
One word... work hard, save your money and buy your Apple products... you will appreciate them after you have earned them and be proud you did!
I feel like one of the robbers is gonna email steve jobs and brag about it. He'll probably get a response like "Give it back" or something else really short
