  • All Beatles Songs Now on iTunes

As has been rumored for the past 24 hours, Apple today announced that they had obtained rights to the Beatles' music catalog on the iTunes Store. Apple has had a teaser on their home page since early yesterday with the legend "Tomorrow is just another day. That you'll never forget." Eyebrows were raised by the apparent reference to "Another Day," a Paul McCartney song from his solo record "Ram" that was written during the Beatles' "Let it Be" sessions. Other hopeful rumors - such as the long-awaited streaming iTunes or all-you-can-eat music subscriptions - didn't pan out.

Steve Jobs had been trying to make a deal with the Beatles' corporate entity Apple Corps Ltd. many times before, but negotiations have always broken down. The two sides have been suing back and forth since way back in 1978, when the Beatles alleged that Apple Computer infringed the band's trademark in the name and logo of Apple Corps. Apple settled in 1981 for an undisclosed amount, and agreed they wouldn't compete in the music business. However, in 1989 Apple Corps sued again, claiming that the music production capabilities of Macs violated the deal, and again in 2003 over the iTunes Store. Finally, Apple just bought up all the trademarks in question and licensed them back to Apple Corps.

The Beatles are still huge sellers forty-plus years after breaking up. They have sold more than 177 million albums in the US alone, according to the Recording Industry Association of America. Songs from all 13 albums are now available on the iTunes Store, along with a box set for $149.

      Note to Apple:
Next time you create hype, please upgrade or add more servers to iTunes Music Store so it stops timing out.
€150 for 256 songs though is a bargain and a half, if I didn't already have the few Beatles albums and songs I want I'd serious consider the entire Collection

Getting The Beatles on iTunes was always "the one that got away" for Steve Jobs so I'd say he just wanted to celebrate a little

While it's nice and all... it did not live up to today's hype. Definitely expected more.

Hahaha apple said it something we wouldn't of forget.
This is why apple wins in lawsuits.
If this was a suing matter they would say: we said something you wouldn't forget. Well yeah apple wins still going to check it out. Still another day I'll forget but who knows something awesome might happen today.

In 10 years (7 really if you want to nitpick) they created and brought so much to music when other bands stale and go their whole lives doing the same thing over and over and over.
While I do love the Beatles, they are way overrated. RS gave them what, like 5 of the top 10 albums of all time!?!?!

Plus there's a long list of bands from that era that brought a ton to the music world.

Just checked, 4 in top 10, 5 in top 14.

Its just another way for Steve to prove that he WILL conquer the world. After years and years of legal issues with the band...APPLE FINALLY HAS THEM. What's next? ..... Apple to rule the world, one band at a time.

Even though I like most of the Beatles songs I am kinda disappointed myself... I seen the Beatles and was so let down..... anyone that is a Beatle fan already has all of their music! Apple your a day late and dollar short! Geesh!

I would rather listen to Michael Jackson's music any day over the Beatles myself!

Maybe he's saying because on apple.com firmware updates are always hyped up on the iPhone page. The Beatles are being sold ON ITUNES. What kind of question is this? And I'm not going to do that *** "BUMP" thing either.
