  • iTunes 10.1 Available For Download: iOS 4.2 GM2 for Developers

Just as Poseidon79 reported yesterday, iTunes 10.1 is now Available for download, while iOS 4.2 has entered GM 2 status.

I'll skip right to the important stuff. If your Jailbroken, you should be just fine with the iTunes 10.1 update, so don't panic when you see the update screen.

iTunes 10.1 does come with some new support a a few features such as the ability to use "AirPlay to instantly and wirelessly stream videos from iTunes to the all-new Apple TV", and obviously support for iOS 4.2 and its devices. Some date have been tossed around and the last I read was a late November release for iOS 4.2

In the midst of all of this, Apple has also released iOS 4.2 GM 2 to Developers, which can lead us to believe that the late November dates sound about right.

    Until then, happy updating.

Works like a charm..very cool to have whole mac lib on the TV.
Be sure and go to iTunes pref and set your lib to share, this is in conjunction w/ turning on Home share.
Also have to set your photos(in advanced tab under Home share) to share by themselves as the photos are not under iTunes/pref/sharing

I updated iTunes using the downloadable installer and all went well.
Restoring the colour to the icons in the sidebar using the older version of ThemePark still works too.

If Apple made then that means we did want it, Steve Jobs always knows what we want and he is never wrong.

thats kind of weird that you dont allow "that" because jailbreaking is not that different from all of those things that you mentioned...it is kinda legal but still

The legal area here is if it costs money whether app store or in cydia or else ware pay for it, jailbreak and unlocks are by the community

That comment is completely wrong! Piracy and jailbreaking have nothing to do with each other. I personally have spent more money on apps from Cydia than I did non-jailbroken.

Well, first off, jailbreaking isn't "kinda" legal, it is.
Federal regulators lifted a cloud of uncertainty when they announced it was lawful to hack or “jailbreak” an iPhone, declaring Monday there was “no basis for copyright law to assist Apple in protecting its restrictive business model.”
Every three years, the Librarian of Congress and the Copyright Office entertain proposed exemptions to the DMCA, passed in 1998. The act forbids circumventing encryption technology to copy or modify copyrighted works.

But the Copyright Office concluded that, “while a copyright owner might try to restrict the programs that can be run on a particular operating system, copyright law is not the vehicle for imposition of such restrictions.
Apple just doesn't like the fact we do it. Secondly, having cracked apps is stealing money from the developers regardless of whether the app came from the apple store or cydia. Last time i checked, theft was still considered illegal, therefore it is not condoned by this site.

I have the same issue with my player controls. I couldn't find anything on the Apple support forums either. It's really annoying.
