  • MMi Weekly Jailbreak App Store Update: August 16th, 2010

Here's what new and updated in the Jailbreak App Stores on Rock and Cydia.

    Paste A Pastie.org Client
    App by Chpwn

Paste is a handy tool developed by @Chpwn, creator of Infinidock and InfiniFolders. Basically the application, Paste, allows you to send text/code via Paste using the service Pastie.org. When you open up Paste, your clipboard is automatically pasted and ready to be uploaded to pastie.org or you can clear it and type something else. When you press submit, your paste will be submitted, and then contents of your clipboard will be replaced with the Pastie URL of your psate.

This can be found in Cydia and Rock for free.

    Tlert
    SMS/MMS Tweak

Tlert has recently received several updates and continues to grow and become one of the cleanest SMS add-on available for your jailbroken iDevice. It replaces the intrusive pop-ups, and allows you to take control of your SMS/MMS. It integrates a great quick reply system, and allows you to easily mark messages as read from any screen, even letting you customize the look of notifications. Best of all, there is almost no memory loss and everything runs smoothly.

Tlert is available via Rock for $6.99. I highly suggest checking it out.

    Remove Background SBSettings
    Toggle Tweak

This handly little SBSettings toggle, allows you to remove all background processes in one tap. Simply tap the toggle and it will close all apps currently running in the background. This is great if things start getting a little too sluggish.

You can find this on Cydia and Rock for free.

    ultrasn0w
    Unlocking App

If you missed it, earlier this week ultrasnow was updated which brought improved battery life for phones on standby. This update can be found on the ultrasn0w repo via Cydia or Rock.

And the list goes on... Almost all of these are now iOS 4 compatible.

TetherMe - Enable Basic Tethering on your iPhone
FaceBreak - Enables FaceTime over 3G.
Locktopus - Incredibly simple password protection for your iDevice.
Longitude - Google Latitude Background Tracking.
    Kirikae - Background Multitasking Client
SpringJumps - Jump to pages using a SpringJump icon.
aTimeTool - An automation tool and scheduler for your iPhone (via Rock)
Call Controller - Uses the built in accelerometer to control your calls, auto reply SMS when a call is blocked, single record deletion on phone's history.

    More updates available....

    Rock 2.56.3
    TVout
    UnlimTones
    uMonitor
    Backgrounder
    Secure Login
    AndroidLock XT

RemoveBG = best thing ever for my 3GS. Seriously, ios4 kills my battery.

I wish android lock worked on ios4 though. I always liked the fact that people cant get in my phone and can't lock it for hours by getting the code wrong.

It was for a short while but has since been pulled. I believe today's update in Cydia is the first since it has made it's return from being in the App Store.

I don't think it is yet...having issues with it as well...

I would have liked to try out tlert but since it's not on cydia, I'll pass. Rock has only given me nightmares...had to restore each time I tried it in the past. I'll stick to apps in cydia...Not going down the Rock route ever again

Remove Recents + Backgrounder is better than RemoveBG in my opinion.

Remove background SB is a great tool. I would also highly recommend "Remove Recents". There are certain apps that are not yet multitask enabled but even when you close it, the app remains in task switcher. This install actually removes all recent apps from task switcher. So now when you open and exit apps you will only see running apps. The way it is supposed to be.

Remove background SB actually removes all apps from task switcher so you wont have to sit there and tap each app to close. If you have an iphone 3gs or i4 than it's useful. Backgrounder is only for 3g and below.

      any others?
ProSwitcher is NOT going to be updated for iOS4. The dev already stated they are happy with Apple's native task switcher. The only way it would be updated is if the app was handed off to someone else to update.

Should have grabbed it when it sneaked into the App Store as "MiTube" YourTube is much better. Wish that got an iOS4 update already

Agreed. Nothing runs in my background without me activating it myself. Battery life on my stock iPhone 4 was great until 2 weeks later when every app in the app store was getting updating for backgrounding. Next thing you know, I have 10 apps in a "sleep" state and I noticed battery life decreasing.

I don't know if this was updated at the time of writing this but I learned SnapTap was updated for iPhone 4 yesterday I believe. Works great!

i have a habit already of closing BG apps in the task switcher so my phone doesnt run slower or consume more battery than it already does.

but thanks for telling me about elert/tlert. i had seen them a long time ago and didnt pay attention to them. im liking how they work and look already
