  • Apple is Officially Liquidmetal's Sugar Daddy

Earlier this week, Paul reported on Apple securing a license for exclusive use of a new, strong, and flexible alloy for use in its products. The alloy, dubbed "Liquidmetal," has better than twice the strength of titanium, but cools quickly and can be easily molded like plastic. As some MMi readers quickly pointed out, this appears to be the first step to fulfilling Sarah Connor's prophecy. Nonetheless, Apple made the deal and "no other electronics manufacturer will be able to use the alloy."

Today, Apple Insider is reporting that Apple's agreement with the alloy maker is officially saving Liquidmetal Technologies from an enormous debt problem. According to Liquidmetal's 8-K filing with the U.S. Securities and Exchange Commission, the company swiftly paid off its $10.9 million debt with its newfound funds from Apple. "The foregoing obligations were paid with proceeds from the previously announced strategic licensing transaction with Apple Inc.," the filing reads.

Although Apple is yet to publicly comment on its plans for Liquidmetal, it's clear to both industry professionals and casual outside observers that Apple is angling to build stronger and more durable products, especially future generation iPhones. The material in question is so strong "that a one inch wide bar can lift 300,000 pounds, while to a titanium bar the same size that can only lift 175,000 pounds."

I'd like to see specs on the electrical conductivity and resistance of this metal versus say, steel, copper, gold etc. Imagine if it was superconductive as well as super strong!

I assume they mean 1 sq. in. bar but nonetheless this is some great metallurgic science hopefully giving us the consumer and tech enthusiasts some promising outcomes from Apple.

      Cannot wait!

you think that's a lot....the sheik Khalifa of Abudabi UAE has personally 875 billion dollars which means that he can buy himself 4 international space stations if he wanted to and still have some money left. That's enough money for him to hire Jobs as his personal wiper.

Drop the iPhone on cement will make a hole in the cement and not a scratch on the iPhone.

Correct me if Im wrong but:
has better than twice the strength of titanium
that a one inch wide bar can lift 300,000 pounds, while to a titanium bar the same size that can only lift 175,000 pounds
      175000 * 2 = 350000

So shouldnt titanium only be able to lift <150,000 pounds (or liquidmetal to be able to lift >350000 pounds) for the first statement to be true?

The whole change behind the 1st gen metal to the 2nd gen plastic was because of antennae interference. Supposedly. I personally think it was more about cost of metal vs plastic, but why would they make another metal phone? An iPod I could see.

Hey there, i've been watching liquid metals stock and doing some research and talking to stock brokers and found out that there a COMPLETE SCAM!!!!!

A penny stock scam that is. Anytime a deal like this is done there's always a press release and there's absolutly none on there website or apple's about it. And the reason for that is so that when they do get found out about, they can say that they didn't say anything to mislead people.

There's no SEC filing. look into there past and they already have 1 law suit for this kind of thing (penny stock scam, in 2003 they had a class action lawsuit, there stock went from pennys to 20$ a share!), I don't know how this got all over the net and made to look so ligitimate.

Now we can at least try and get this news out there and save some people from losing a LOT more money then they already have.

You can go on the NASDAQ and look at there financials, it makes no sense. They have 20 thousand dollars in transactions since 2004. How? if the've aparently done deals with the department of defence and and a major watch manufacturer and have there stuff in medical equipment! (I read this information on various other articles)

This has got to be gotten under control so lets try and get the word out!

He is saying that the Apple purchase is fake to drive up stock prices.

But here is the official link to the SEC filing.
