    [UPDATE: the rumors were right and iOS 4.0.2/3.2.2 are out there. Jailbreakers DO NOT UPGRADE.]

    Unsubstantiated rumors are flying around the interwebs about iOS 4.0.2 and iOS 3.2.2 updates to be released within hours that will close the PDF hole and root escalation bug that made jailbreakMe possible. No idea if it's true, but we know that Apple claims to have an upgrade in the pipeline, and no less of a personage than the Dev-Team's @cpich3g hints that it's about to drop, so better safe than sorry.

    Obviously, if you're prompted to update firmware, don't do it. But to avoid any possibility of losing your jailbreak and apps, back up your SHSH blobs now if you haven't already done so, before the saving window closes.

      The 4.0.2 is out now. I just plugged my phone in and it prompted me for it.

      Any chance someone could reverse-engineer this upgrade and release a PDF exploit fix for jailbroken users?
      The current "fix" breaks several ebook readers.

      have a search on torrent sites, i have managed to find the most recent version for windows (4.01.08) on one and it's worked fine.

      i jailbrokeme last night then restored after about 5 hours to 4.0.1
      if i JBme again now, then at some point update to 4.0.2, could apple with all their evil prevent me from upgrading due to JB and possibly send my IP4 into the relms of evil via invinate loop or something?
      can apple see via itunes that your JB ?

      I would assume it is still JB compatible.. just not unlockable...

      You assume wrong...no way JailbreakMe works on 4.0.2. That's the whole point of Apple releasing the patch...it closes the hole that they exposed.

      I downloaded-ONLY the 4.0.1 YESTERDAY, and got iPhone2,1_4.0.1_8A306_Restore.ipsw file.
      Luckily I did not update, and found the file in the recycle bin and restored it.
      Is this the last "good" release for jailbreaking/unlocking a 3GS iPhone?

      can someone explain this to me? now, i have my ip4 and my ipad's shsh blobs saved..did it a while back..now my question is now that apple has released 4.0.2, how would that effect someone who hasnt yet saved their blobs who are on 4.0.1?

      doesnt matter if you have 4.0.1 or not..apple has stopped signing it.

      more likely it will have the same baseband and be unlockable. what the worry is, is that you have to jailbreak b4 unlock.
