  • iOS Update Imminent? Back Up Your SHSH Blobs Anyway...

[UPDATE: the rumors were right and iOS 4.0.2/3.2.2 are out there. Jailbreakers DO NOT UPGRADE.]

Unsubstantiated rumors are flying around the interwebs about iOS 4.0.2 and iOS 3.2.2 updates to be released within hours that will close the PDF hole and root escalation bug that made jailbreakMe possible. No idea if it's true, but we know that Apple claims to have an upgrade in the pipeline, and no less of a personage than the Dev-Team's @cpich3g hints that it's about to drop, so better safe than sorry.

Obviously, if you're prompted to update firmware, don't do it. But to avoid any possibility of losing your jailbreak and apps, back up your SHSH blobs now if you haven't already done so, before the saving window closes.

Didn't really think about it until you said this.. You're right. It would not be JB-able or unlock-able under 4.0.2. I'm even the one who posted the Gizmodo link for the PDF fix news... lol.

      /me opens another beer.

4.0.1 is the latest jailbreakable one but you can't restore to it now unless your SHSH is saved

Apple should still be signing 4.0.1 right now. Last time there was about a 6-8 hour delay before they stopped signing after the release.

Ya, but pray you DON'T have to restore your new phone because if you buy it now with 4.0.1, you can't ever get it back to 4.0.1. So, its only onward and upward for you. Until a JB for 4.0.2 (or more likely 4.1) is released.

stupid F'n apple, they spend time fixing dumb **** like this, yet here i am with a phone from launch and i have yet to see this "SOFTWARE FIX" for the damn sensor on the phone. Im getting sick and tired of accidently hanging up on people or putting them on mute or just pressing random buttons on the screen in the middle of a call

They patched it so quickly because of all the idiots who went into apple store and jailbroken the display iPhones. We've waited so long for jailbreak and someone have to ruin it for the rest of us.

Cydia tells me that I have SHSH on file for 4.0/4.0.1 and I am running 3.1.3. How do I back up 3.1.3?

At the same time Im reading this, Im finishing up restoring my iphone 4 because it froze last night.Actually now, Im re-installing my apps.Software Version is still on 4.0.1 so I must have just made it just on time before the update went live. Man, I was worried. I just spent $19 on MyWi and to think I wasnt gonna be able to use it. That was close! Just to confirm, I can re-jailbreak right?

Similar thing for me to, I'm on 3.0.1, had some issues with cydia last week and somehow I got the "make my life easier" screen again. So this time I saved, and how it says I have on file for 4.0.

      Why would that be?
