    iOS 4.0.1 and iPad 3.2.1 have just been released! For your own good, DO NOT UPDATE!!! if you require jailbreak or unlock!

    It looks like reports are coming in that this is actually the 4.1 Beta we saw last night... not sure why it would roll out so quick, but I'm not buying it just yet. The baseband isn't even updated, so it can't be entirely 4.1b.

    BACKUP YOUR SHSH BLOBS!!!!!!!!

    Comex has confirmed there is NO baseband update in 4.0.1. You can update if you wish, but really there is no point unless you have an iPhone 4 and want these new "bigger bars". Either way, just don't do it.

      Its for downgrading.
      Is you backed up via tinyumbrella then if you want to go back to 4.0 from 4.0.1 you run the TTS Server button I think and then instead of iTunes connecting to apples server to see if 4.0 is still OK to be restored to it connects to the face server from tinyumbrella and tricks iTunes in thinking it is apples server and allows you to downgrade.

      Hope that helped a bit.

      I just used tiny umbrella with the source being Apple and got my 4.0 SHSH for my 3GS

      I am new to this SHSH concept. I backed up my 4.0 SHSH files yesterday. Does your physical iphone have to be on 4.0.1 to back up those SHSH files with tiny umbrella? Or does Apple simply "sign" it for the current firmware regardless of what version you have on your phone? If it's the later, then could I backup my 4.0.1 SHSH files, but not install the 4.0.1 update to my phone?

      Dev Team, please don't update pwnage tool, release the iPhone 4 jailbreak or unlock, this is the biggest, most gimmicky trap they have done. Wait until the press release Friday, and then keep waiting.

      It is for downgrading your phone. So if they release a JB for 4.0 and you are on 4.0.1 and can't jailbreak, you use the SHSH blob to be able to downgrade back to 4.0

      I love how people on here just expect a jb to come out over nite because it's so easy to package all the code and stuff. I mean everyone is doing it. My guess is if u plan on jb your phone u still have a few weeks

      For everyone who does not understand or is new to the JB scene:

      There is something fishy about this update. Whether you need Jailbreak or Unlock don't expect a release anytime soon. Chances are they baited this 4.0.1 out for the devteam to release the jailbreak so they can immediately patch in 4.1. Stay away from the upgrade until further notice.

      I also just used Tiny Umbrella and it said the backup was successful for both Cydia and Apple.

      I'm new to TU...am I in the clear? Why are some people saying Apple stopped signing?
