We may not all have magic wands like Harry Potter does, but when we need light, we have a powerful LED flashlight on the back of our iPhone that can be used to illuminate even some of the darkest places for our convenience.
While Apple includes a flashlight toggle button in Control Center, it would be nice if a flashlight option was available right from the iOS 7 Lock Screen without the need to open Control Center in the first place. But eliminating this extra step, we enter a new realm of convenience.
A new free jailbreak tweak called Lumos
by iOS developer CP Digital Darkroom, conveniently named after Harry Potter's flashlight spell, adds a new flashlight button to the bottom of the iOS 7 Lock Screen on the opposite side of the Camera Grabber, as shown above.
By simply tapping on the new button, the rear-facing LED will illuminate and give you the flashlight functionality that you need to see in the dark.
Lumos adds a preferences pane to the Settings application where you can configure its various options:
Here, you can enable or disable the tweak on demand, configure the button's style, and configure the button's Lock Screen position. You can choose between two styles – one that looks like a light bulb, and one that looks like the iOS 7 brightness icon.
If you want to give Lumos a try, it's available for free right now in Cydia's BigBoss repository. iOS 7 is required for the installation.
