  • MultiIconMover: And Other Things Apple Should Already Be Doing

I am constantly amazed at some of the small innovations the jailbreak community comes up with week in and week out. From fixing small gripes (Infinidock) to implementing features that should have been available since the iPhone 1 (Wi-Fi Sync), the jailbreak community exudes a flexibility AppStore developers aren't granted from Apple.

The latest little gem I came across in Cydia is MultiIconMover (which I'm sure many of you already have). The app has been around for a good time, and I'm not sure how I didn't find it earlier. I have always found it frustrating to move icons one at a time from page to page on the home screen, pulling it to the edge of the screen till the iPhone Gods grant it passage to a new land.

MultiIconMover makes this incredibly easy by allowing the user to select multuple icons once on the SpringBoard (when the icons start jiggling with the x). After the icons have been selected you swipe to the desired page and hit the home button to drop the selected icons to the new page. You just need to make sure there is enough space on the new pages for the selected icons.

Like I mentioned before there are a ton of other useful apps available to the jailbreak community. What are your favorite? The most useful? And are there any ideas for new apps you'd like to see in the marketplace?

    *Note*
There currently is no way to use MultiIconMover for iOS 4.3.

one solution would be to install "Remove Background SBSettings" with SBSettings to remove all apps from the multitask bar. Or just install "RemoveBG" app and use with activator to selectively remove apps from the multitask bar (more along the lines of what you are wanting I think). hope that helps.

I'm surprised nobody's mentioned activator yet? And MusicControlsPro? I love being able to control my music with swipes at the lockscreen, and now also with the switcher controls too. But definitely SBSettings has to be the thing I rely on the most!

Of course my must have app/mod when I jailbreak an idevice is SBSettings but my all time fave has to be ToneFX...why apple doesn't let us customize the sounds on our devices is beyond me. I love when I get an email and Special Ed yells "I've got mail yaaaaaaa" LOL

Parallax - Panoramic wallpaper across your entire Springboard!

U need to set IconRenamer to Double-Tap. It still gets confused sometimes, though

There are so many, but if I had to pick a single Cydia app that has transformed the way I use my phone, it would be Activator. Given all the awesome tweaks that can be assigned to any button, or a ton of different gestures, it's a must have app for anyone serious about customising the way they use their phone.

I also love ActionMenu and am patiently waiting for it be updated to work with iOS 4.3.

^ If I 'had' to pick one....
      I'd choose MyWi!

@Philip Swanson: You should really update your original post to correct your statement about MultiIconMover not working on 4.3. It was updated ages ago and works flawlessly.

For the people getting the iAds at the top of the springboard, if you delete the iAd.app(not exactly sure if that's what it is) folder than that doesn't happen anymore.

I just want to take this time to make it known what a flaming pile of horse dung Wi-Fi Sync is, at least for Windows users. Doesn't work at all, the developer knows that it doesn't work and intentionally offers no support or even warning about this. I'm surprised saurik hasn't at least added some kind of warning about it because I know there have been a lot of angry emails. That's a lot of money to flush away on something that does absolutely nothing.

DePersist Wifi - it turns off the wifi radio when your device locks. On the iPod Touch it is absolutely awesome - it's increased my standby time to days, rather than hours.

Of course, push services are disrupted, but that's a small price to pay for extremely extended battery life.

      FolderEnhancer - Must have!

      iFile - Absolutely must have!

      SBSettings, Cydelete, & WinterBoard
      - of course!

Color Keyboard - a new favorite

      Five Icon Dock - a no-brainer

      Iconoclasm - worth every penny

      LiveClock

      Multiflow

NoWiggle - stops the annoying wiggle when you go to move icons.

Quicklock - extend the life of your lock button!

      SwitcherMod

Themeit - Neurtech is now on Themeit!

you can delete the ads by going to an ssh program (ifile, winscp, etc.) then go to var, stash, applications or something like that an deleting adsheet.app.

since a bunch of people are on the subject of winterboard problems, does anyone know when they will come out with an update that fixes the lockscreen problems?

Wrong. winterboard does not run the background. Not sure where you got your information from. It also does not slow down your iDevice. It's the tweaks and certain themes that slow you down. Please dont spead false information

Again. Winterboard itself DOES NOT slow down your device. The themes and tweaks do...smdh

Wasn't there supposed to be a winterboard update along with cydia 1.1?

Whats the name of this ad supported theme?
