  • 'MyStatusBarColor' Lets You Configure a Universal Status Bar Color in iOS 7

If you've been staying tuned lately, then you know there have been a handful of Status Bar colorizing jailbreak tweaks released recently, such as ColorBar. Unfortunately, all of them seem to have a limitation that limits the Status Bar colorization that you set to the Lock Screen and Home Screen only Status Bar colorization never seems to bleed over to open applications.

Fortunately, a new jailbreak tweak called MyStatusBarColor by iOS developer IAmOrion is challenging that limitation by attempting to colorize your Status Bar anywhere in iOS 7 yes, even in applications (with a few exceptions).

The tweak adds a preferences pane to your Settings application where you can configure the background color and foreground color of the Status Bar with two individual sets of RGB sliders. You will also notice that there are two alpha sliders, which let you set the alpha level independently for the background and foreground of the Status Bar:

As you change the colors around, you'll see a color preview of the color that you're making next to the title of each section. There is a toggle switch at the top of the preferences pane, as well as a respring button that you'll use to save your changes each time you change the colors and/or alpha levels around.

Now we did mention earlier that this tweak works in applications, but with a few exceptions. It seems to work in all or most of your stock applications, but some third-party applications like Dropbox and Facebook Messenger seem a little finicky and the Status Bar just seems to disappear completely until you close out of the application. For that reason, we'll need to dock this tweak an Apple for functionality, but we're still happy to see that it works elsewhere.

If you would like to give MyStatusBarColor a try, it's available in Cydia's BigBoss repository right now for just 99. The tweak requires iOS 7 to be installed.

    Name: MyStatusBarColor
    Price: 99
    Version: 0.2.7-1
    Requirements: iOS 7.0-7.1.2
Tested on: iPhone 5 running iOS 7.1.2
    Repo: BigBoss
    Developer: IAmOrion
    Editor's Rating: / 3.5/5

I noticed it doesn't work when I am in notes and safari. Status bar disappears. Maybe another tweak I have installed causing MyStatusBarColor not to work in some apps. Not sure

We experienced this problem too. From the article:

The tweak seems picky on the application. We docked it a few rating points for this.
