'Nonosim' Hides the "NO SIM" Text From the Status Bar When No SIM is Installed
Whenever you remove the SIM card from your iPhone, your Status Bar will forever haunt you by saying "NO SIM." As if you didn't already know that your iPhone is basically an iPod touch without your SIM card, your Status Bar is going to waste space and rub it in your face.
A new free jailbreak tweak called nonosim
by iOS developer Andy Wiik is now available for those of you with iPhones that don't have SIM cards that are being used as Wi-Fi-only mobile devices.
This tweak hides the "NO SIM" text from the Status Bar on the Home Screen, Lock Screen, and even from within applications so you don't have to look at it anymore.
We also noticed that if you put a SIM card back into your iPhone, the tweak can be used to hide the carrier name and make it so your Status Bar only shows your signal strength:
In either way that you should use it, it should eliminate clutter from your Status Bar and give you additional room for Status Bar-improving tweaks, such as those that add notification icons to the Status Bar, or those that let you modify the Status Bar information and may take up more space.
If you would like to give nonosim a try, it's available for free right now in Cydia's BigBoss repository. There are no options to configure for this tweak. Since the tweak relies on the lack of a SIM card for functionality, you must have a device capable of storing a SIM card to use this tweak.
