  • 'ColorBar' Lets you Colorize Your Status Bar in iOS 7

The iOS 7 Status Bar is usually pretty boring; just lacking a background with some plain Jane white font to display some information. Luckily, a new free jailbreak tweak called ColorBar by iOS developer TheNinjaprawn allows you to take control of the Status Bar's appearance on the Lock Screen and Home Screen by changing both the foreground and background color.

As shown above, you can make some really different color effects with your Status Bar using ColorBar.

The tweak adds a preferences pane to the Settings application where there are a number of options you can toy around with:

From here, you will be able to enable or disable the tweak on demand, configure your own background color and your own foreground color for the Status Bar, and even fix the Status Bar size on the Lock Screen so that it looks the same as on the Home Screen and anywhere else.

The colors that you can pick for either include the following:

    • Black
    • Blue
    • Brown
    • Clear
    • Cyan
    • Dark gray
    • Gray
    • Green
    • Light gray
    • Magenta
    • Orange
    • Purple
    • Red
    • White
    • Yellow

A respring button is included so that you can save any changes to the settings that you make, such as enabling or disabling the tweak on demand.

ColorBar does not colorize the Status Bar while you're in applications, only when you're on the Lock Screen and Home Screen, which is a bit of a downer, but because of the way Status Bar handling is done in iOS 7 with the different colors of the navigation bar in all kinds of applications for iOS 7, it wouldn't make much sense anyway.

If you would like to give ColorBar a try, it's available for free in Cydia's BigBoss repository. It supports all versions of iOS 7, and it's an open source jailbreak tweak, so you'll be able to view the source code at this GitHub link.

Just any FYI, I've literally just submitted a tweak called MyStatusBarColor which allows you to set the foreground and background to any color using RGB sliders. My tweak also has an alpha (transparency) option AND it DOES work on LS & HS and more importantly it works inside apps too!

Be sure to look for it shortly.
