  • Five Great Jailbreak Tweaks for Improving Your iOS 7 Multitasking Experience

Recently, we showed you five great jailbreak tweaks for improving the text messaging experience on any iOS 7 device, and we also showed you five great jailbreak tweaks for improving your iOS 7 Lock Screen experience, but this time, we're going to be showing you five great jailbreak tweaks for improving the multitasking experience on iOS 7.

Just a quick note before we get started; these tweaks are all compatible with the Pangu version 1.1.0 jailbreak for iOS 7.1.x, and will work with earlier iOS 7 jailbreaks, such as evasi0n7, as well.

    1. Auxo 2 – $3.99

We'll start this show with a popular multitasking App Switcher-improvement tweak called Auxo 2. If you haven't already heard of this tweak, then we just have to ask you one question – Where have you been? Auxo 2 re-invents the iOS 7 App Switcher by filling in the unused App Switcher canvas with useful controls from iOS 7's Control Center. It also adds new features, such as swipe gestures, recent applications, hot corners, kill all apps, and more. It can make multitasking even faster, and make it so that your App Switcher doesn't look starved of features. It's worth checking out, so give it a try!

    2. ClassicSwitcher – 99¢

For those of you that hate the iOS 7 multitasking App Switcher altogether, and wish that you could go back to the multitasking days of iOS 6 and earlier, a jailbreak tweak called ClassicSwitcher is right up your alley. This tweak makes it so when you double-press that Home Button of yours, a row of application icons appears at the bottom of your display rather than a full-screen card-style App Switcher so you can close running applications. You can configure how many rows are allowed to be open at once, and you can configure several other things too, such as quitting all applications, when you're allowed to close applications, the opening animation, and more. Be sure to check this tweak out if you have nostalgia for the iOS 6 and earlier App Switcher after upgrading to iOS 7!

    3. SwitchSpring – FREE

If you're pretty content overall with the iOS 7 App Switcher, but just want to add some simple functionality to it, such as the ability to swipe up on the Home Screen card to restart SpringBoard, or the ability to easily close all of your running applications then you need to check out a free jailbreak tweak called SwitchSpring. This tweak subtly add new features to the App Switcher you already have without modifying it much. This tweak is definitely the work of a minimalist and will meet the needs of any minimalist jailbreakers out there!

    4. GridSwitcher – $1.50

To make better use of the canvas space in the iOS 7 App Switcher without cluttering it with toggles and other unrelated tools, you could simply just use the additional real estate to house more switcher cards with a jailbreak tweak called GridSwitcher. If you're using an iPhone or iPod touch, this tweak forces four application switcher cards to appear on the display at once in a 2x2 grid format; if you're using an iPad, nine application switcher cards appear on the display at once in a 3x3 format. You still swipe up on your application switcher cards to close the application, but you get the added benefit of seeing more at once without the need for all the swiping. Check it out!

    5. OS Experience – $9.99

This one is pretty pricey, and it has nothing to do with the App Switcher, but boy... it sure will help you multitask on your iPad. OS Experience brings desktop-class multitasking to your iPad by allowing you to run multiple applications at the same time, side-by-side, in different windows. You can re-size the windows so that they're small or so that they take up half of the display, and you can even enter a Mission Control-like interface that lets you move between desktops and applications that you have open. With a Launch Pad-like interface, you can easily launch new applications for using. OS Experience does take getting used to if you're used to how iOS usually functions, but it's one of the coolest concepts for mobile multitasking that has been implemented for iOS 7 yet!

All of these tweaks have been tested to make sure that they're compatible with the latest Pangu 1.1.0 jailbreak; they may not all be compatible with one another.

This series is a great idea. Since Cydia doesn't have a place for reviews and often the devs don't write much about their tweaks, reviews like these fill a real need.

Does anyone know why my music keeps corrupting? I restored from a back up because of it but my music just keeps corrupting and turning into other. I was jailbroken on 7.1.2 on my iPhone 5S but have restored from back up on 7.1.2 using iTunes 11.3. Any help? Thanks if anyone can assist on this matter.

It could actually be because you restored from backup. Sometimes the best thing to do, annoying and tedious as it is, is to simply restore as new and manually add everything back.

I have a suggestion for a later article in this series: 5 Incredibly Useful Jailbreak Tweaks you've Never Heard of. I was just thinking that many of the tweaks sponsored so far are so widely used that the majority of us already know what they do (ex. Auxo 2). Are there any super tweaks out there that we just don't know about though? I'm just curious and interested in finding out.

GridSwitcher is, in my opinion, the best there is. Combine it with Slide2Kill 7 and you'll be in heaven.

The last time I had classic switcher it never actually closed my backgrounded apps. My iPod kept crashing until I went into safemode and closed all my backgrounded apps. For this I do no recommend it.
