  • Volkswagen May Integrate Apple’s CarPlay Feature in 2016 VW Line

According to a source, Volkswagen has been reportedly discussing with Apple to integrate CarPlay into its VW line sometime in the near future. It is expected for the two companies to announce this partnering in upcoming months. However, it is unclear as of right now, which Volkswagen models will be embedding the iOS based feature into its vehicles. Sources are saying though, the company is looking to include CarPlay in their 2016 models as opposed to 2015 ones.

Apple and Volkswagen quickly became partners when Apple was scouting out car companies to integrate iPod into their vehicles. So the fact there has not been any announcement from either of the companies, is fairly strange. CarPlay was announced by Apple earlier in the year and new car models have been added to support this feature in the last few months. Sources are also claiming that the company is looking to update the CarPlay feature, so that it will connect to vehicles via wireless as opposed to the USB Lightning cable.
