  • Businesses Receiving Calls From Apple’s Maps Team To Correct User-Reported Address

Business owners have reportedly been receiving phone calls from Apple in regards to verifying information that has been shown as incorrect through the Maps “Report a Problem” feature. Popular website Reddit has a post that states at least one business was contacted by the Apple Maps team in verifying incorrect address. Apparently, the location was outdated and had already been removed from Yelp, but Apple’s database was never been updated to meet Yelp changes. The updated data is supposed to go live within the week, according to the post.

A 408 number called me from Apple Maps and let me know that a user reported my business address as incorrect. They still had my old address that was listed on Yelp so I gave them the new one. I asked when I should expect it to be updated on Apple Maps and the lady said, “We don’t have an exact timeline for updates but it should be within the next week.”
It appears that Apple pulled from Yelp awhile ago but it doesn’t actually sync the addresses and other information.
Still couldn’t believe that they called me to fix up the listing – how awesome.
Apple may be making more calls to business owners, since they just recently started seriously pushing to correct inaccurate map data, by sending out corrected point-of-interest information every evening.

I love Apple Maps for it's loading time and adding addresses to contacts, but that's it! Google Maps still pwns the "Points of Interests" feature. Google Maps accurately locates 10 Starbucks around me, while Apple Maps only locates 2 ?!?
