  • Spirit Exploit Ported for iOS 4 and iPhone 4 : Coming Soon!

Our good friends, MuscleNerd and planetbeing, have announced that Comex's Spirit userland jailbreak has been ported to work on iOS 4 and even the iPhone 4!

Before you go asking like crazy, I'll tell you now... There is still no release date, but rather, just great news that our next Jailbreak tool is right around the corner. The image above that you see is high-resolution, at the native iPhone 4 resolution, just a bit of extra proof that it's working. Go ahead, click the image and see it in it's full glory.

Stay tuned folks, our next Jailbreak tool will arrive shortly.

NOTE: This is not the bootrom exploit, but rather another userland jailbreak, which means Apple could patch it in the next update, so make sure you back up your blobs once your jailbroken.

    Tweet from MuscleNerd:

Congrats to @comex for another userland JB Twitpic - Share photos on Twitter <Ė hi-res Cydia via @planetbeing & @chpwn iPhone4s

    Tweet from PlanetBeing:

Think Iím the first one I know about to get a root shell (and SSH) on iPhone 4, using poor @comexís code (since he has no iPhone 4).

    on another note however,

I'm sure that people like comex and others that are trying to get a jailbreak out asap and I'm glad they are, I'm not taking anything away from them as they take time out of their lives to do this for us, but the need for $$ would drive a big company to get it out asap with more resources as apposed to a few trying to do it on their own.
      Makes sense to me

OK - place an add or hire headhunters or whatever.
What do you think you will come up with?
      I'd love to know!

They could hire Jody. Because he knows how to do it.

Oh wait nvm he is a big fake.

If a company actually did this then it would be a different story. Apple would be on them like crazy. This just happens to be individuals which Apple can't really go after for anything. Companies play in different ball parks than individuals.

If a company could be paid to develop software to jailbreak our iPhones what makes you think apple wouldn't pay the MORE money not to???

If Apple could go after them they would. There is absolutely nothing illegal in what they do - and Apple know it.
Please don't give credence to Apple's lies.

Nothing illegal at with it.... But I wonder how legal it is with apple doing the best they can to make the phones unlockable?? I know for a few years it was legal to unlock phones what was it something like 3 years? But nothing new was ever written

It is a grey area t the moment - the EFF want to clarify the law and that is what Apple is scared of.
When the law is clarified then the people that are scared off by Apple's tactics will realise there is nothing to worry about.

I liken a jb sort of like buying a car...I purchased it, and if I want to alter it, eg: add chrome wheels, that is my choice, since I bought and paid for it. Jailbreak should be the same...I just want to add chrome wheels to a phone that I purchased...if it voids the warranty, so be it. It is MY phone.

Very true. I had a modified 360 which wasn't illegal BUT the burned game I played in it was.

A jailbroken iPhone is legal, the cracked apps too many people decide to install.

Don't get me wrong. I'm all for "free trials" but too many just pirate and that's what pisses Steve off!

An old family friend of ours has a son with a jailbroken phone. Guess what it's filled with? Stolen apps. I've never been so pissed to see some snot nosed kid proud and smiling about stealing apps and I was blown away that he thought that there was nothing wrong with, in fact said he did it because he doesn't have any money to buy apps and that it wasn't his fault he couldn't pay for them. Kids these days, have to rain on the party.

Not my job to be his parents. That's on them. But him being about 14, and therefore a mere child, I explained to him that by using and flaunting cracked apps that he is making it harder for us that want to enjoy what a jailbroken iPhone can be, and that he needs to grow up. I had a job making a few hundred dollars every weekend during the spring/summer/fall at his age, and I actually took care of the kid at softball games when my sister was playing and I wasn't working. I didn't get cross, I didn't even get the slightest bit rude. I just asked that he not continue to steal apps because all it does is make jailbreaking that much harder to accomplish and brings a very negative view of it (read comments on MacRumors about all the false info spread around about what jailbreaking does and has done to the OS. Sooooo much crap going around that site.) Did it work? Probably not. I just hope that when the day jailbreaking doesn't exist and he matures he'll realize that it really didn't get him anything in the end, just made it harder on himself and the rest of us. Maybe he'll realize that stealing gets you nowhere, that stealing really isn't worth it in the end. Doesn't accomplish anything.

What piss Steve off is he has no control when it comes to jailbreaking. Do you really think Apple makes all their money by selling the iPhones alone without a contract? Guess again. Even thou we can get the iPhone much cheaper with a two year contract the Cell Carriers pay a hiffty amount to have the right to carry the iPhone on their network. That is were Apple makes their big bucks on the iPhone. So you can see why Steve hates jailbreakers because it cuts into their profits from Cell Carriers.

Wow! I hate ungrateful little b*tches. Check out what @Pazert said to Comex a few minutes ago.

Glad I'm not a dev. I'd hold the jailbreak an extra month for stupid sh*t like that!

I just noticed that Cydia now says I have blobs for 4.0. It only said 3.1.3 up until now. Could this be a sign of the nearing JB?
