  • Spirit Exploit Ported for iOS 4 and iPhone 4 : Coming Soon!

Our good friends, MuscleNerd and planetbeing, have announced that Comex's Spirit userland jailbreak has been ported to work on iOS 4 and even the iPhone 4!

Before you go asking like crazy, I'll tell you now... There is still no release date, but rather, just great news that our next Jailbreak tool is right around the corner. The image above that you see is high-resolution, at the native iPhone 4 resolution, just a bit of extra proof that it's working. Go ahead, click the image and see it in it's full glory.

Stay tuned folks, our next Jailbreak tool will arrive shortly.

NOTE: This is not the bootrom exploit, but rather another userland jailbreak, which means Apple could patch it in the next update, so make sure you back up your blobs once your jailbroken.

    Tweet from MuscleNerd:

Congrats to @comex for another userland JB Twitpic - Share photos on Twitter <Ė hi-res Cydia via @planetbeing & @chpwn iPhone4s

    Tweet from PlanetBeing:

Think Iím the first one I know about to get a root shell (and SSH) on iPhone 4, using poor @comexís code (since he has no iPhone 4).

    on another note however,

That was a couple of days ago. When I spoke to him last night he told me he's got one.

      Two things!
      1. instead of bashing someone who save our collective a$$e$, write your own JB, and while you are at it, unlock please. I will be your Beta tester, just gey my iphone4 unlocked.
      2. i have had the iphone 4 since the introduction date, and I love it, except for the fact that CYDIA isn't on it, AND I am stuck with T-Mobile in Germany. Maybe this summer i will be going to france and picking up an unlocked phone, but untill then, we are either waiting, or waiting and chewing our fingernails down to the SECOND knuckle

We can only hope it will. It will be a sad day when Apple wins. Every day we go without a new boot rom jailbreak apple is beating us a little

      Planetbeings twitter this morning:

Yay, just managed to get this out: SHA1(iphone4-bootrom.bin)= 03203a4ebc24bd2488efdaaa19f0c9589496011f (prolly same as ipad, though)

Having the iPhone 4 bootrom makes it possible to develop exploits that are immune to firmware upgrades (unlike the Spirit family of jbs)

So he seems to be getting somewhere!

They have the bootrom but like he said, it's probably the same as the iPad which still doesn't have an exploit yet outside of GeoHot's Pwned4Life which I don't think he's sharing anytime soon.

I don't believe geohot has anything close to a working jailbreak. He always releases some half assed exploit and then gets pissed off when people ask him to fix it. I have no repect for people that ask for more donations to fix a flawed program that they got donations for in the first place. I'd rather have a stock phone than use his half working jailbreaks. Dev Team actually releases things that work and quickly fix any problems. They don't whine like children.

^^^^totaly agree with you there but i cant complain because the only people that i have donated to for a jailbreak is the dev team

The Dev Team do not take donations.

which makes me respect them more. They release these things and work hard on them because they like the challenge. I respect geohot for his abilities. There's no doubt he's a smart guy, but his attitude, general disdain for people wanting a jailbreak they donated for fixed, and his attitude that he does things 'hacky and fast' doesn't sit well with me at least. If you are going to ask for money, then you should welcome people helping you improve your releases.

That's why it's called a donation right? Bottom line were not buying anything, he's just hacking away and were benefiting. (and he gets a little somethin' somethin')

Kartracer is entitled to "his" opinion.

GeoHot was the first, has done more himself than it has taken multiple people to do and his stuff isn't half-assed like you said. It worked for people including me.

In my opinion, the Dev Team has always been pretty arrogant and seems their passion lies with mac users not windows users.

And yes, I'm entitled to my opinion too....

Furthermore, they make something that is more complicated and takes more steps than the average noob user wants to do or learn. At least simplicity is something GeoHot and Comex got right.

You must have missed the whole blackrain issues then. He was nothing but bitchy about fixing problems. He wanted donations up front for blacksnow if I remember correctly too. He's immature, he's got a bad attitude towards fixing his software that people gave him money for, and complains when people criticize his screwups. Blackrain worked for me and so did blacksnow, AFTER the problems were fixed that he was not real enthused about fixing and I gave him $75 for the unlock. So I am entitled to my opinion and I don't know why you have to point that out. Got your little immature panties in a knot too? Did my 'opinion' hurt your wee little feelings? Seems like you need to grow up too. Yeah he's a one man show, but he doesn't act his age at all, he acts like a whiny ***** and then releases incomplete software that he doesn't want to fix without being given more money. Dev Team takes longer, uses more people but their **** works. When has GeoHot released anything that did anything other than just jailbreak? When did he release software that built a whole IPSW? He didn't, hasn't, and won't. I'd rather it take longer and work than pay a dude for some half-assed release that takes 3 versions before it works reliably.

So what they release for Mac first? That's a minus? Quit ******** and realize that gives you the chance for the Mac users to iron out any release problems before you try. If that's a reason not to like the Dev Team you're grasping at straws and got your poor little feelings hurt. WAAAAAAAAAAAHHHHHH.

I finally jailbroke my ipod touch 2g on iOS4 and found out it isn't worth any trouble............. Lol I spent like an hour trying to jailbreak it and completely forgot that most of the cydia apps aren't compatible with iOS4 yet. Oh well at least now I have a jailbroken ipod on iOS4 just sittin around. At least now I know not to go through the trouble of restoring my iphone to attempt to jailbreak it.

And jeez all the guy did was say what he thought about the dev team and geohot.^

So a jailbreak that uses a bootrom exploit would be unpatchable? I don't see why Apple wouldn't be able to patch it.
