Third-party Opera Mini Web Browser for iOS Gets Updated With New UI, Improvements
On Thursday, the well-known third-party Opera Mini Web browser for iOS by Opera received a major update bringing the Web Browser up to version 8.0 in the iOS App Store.
The update gives the Web browser a completely new user interface that has been revamped with iOS 7 in mind. This means the Web browser is now much flatter with lighter interface elements and transparency in layers. The taller navigation bar is also apparent.
While iOS 7 has been out for quite some time and this update is pretty late considering the circumstances surrounding iOS 8, the upcoming iOS 8 operating system looks very similar to iOS 7 and this application will fit right in with the design of iOS 8 when it is released to the public this Fall.
The user interface update isn't the only thing that has been noted in the change log for Opera Mini. Other changes include new features, such as a new data compression mode that is intended to help you save data while on a cellular network, the ability to theme the Web browser to make it look the way you want it to, a built-in QR code reader so that you can scan a QR code and read the Web site that it brings you to all from Opera Mini, and a new discovery feature.
The iOS 7 interface overhaul for Opera Mini comes just after the recent update to The Weather Channel's update for the iPad version of their application this morning
Existing users of the Opera Mini Web browser will find the update under the Updates tab in the App Store application. Alternatively, you can download the latest version of Opera Mini for free from this App Store link
