One great way to put a lot of useful information under your fingertips while you're flicking through your pages of applications is with widgets.
A new widget that was just recently released called Ultra Widget
by iOS developer Nicholas Webb is now available and is fully compatible with iWidgets. Shown above, it can show you the forecast a week in advance, your current battery level, the date, time, temperature outside, and more.
Best of all, the widget is fully customizable.
Since the widget is compatible with iWidgets, you can add it to your Home Screen by tapping and holding. When you tap and hold, you will find yourself with the list of iWidgets that you can enable, and you'll find Ultra Widget under this list:
Before it's added to your home screen, you will get a preferences pane where you can configure what the widget will look like and how it will behave. You can configure the appearance, including the icons, text color, background color, battery outline, battery fill, and more.
There are also options for configuring how the widget will behave, including hiding or showing the battery level, enabling or disabling GPS, choosing your ZIP code for weather, enabling or disabling a 12-hour clock, hiding or showing seconds in the time, choosing a temperature unit of measure, picking an update interval, and picking a language.
Ultra Widget is also compatible with LockHTML3 so that you can put it on your Lock Screen, as well as your Home Screen.
For best results, you will need to install iWidgets and InfoStats from Cydia. WinterBoard will be installed alongside the widget if it's not installed already.
If you'd like to give Ultra Widget a try, you can grab it right now from Cydia's ZodTTD and MacCiti repository for 99¢.
