  • How is the Pangu iOS 7.1/iOS 7.1.1 Jailbreak Working for You?

Yesterday, a mysterious untethered iOS 7.1-7.1.x jailbreak called Pangu by a team of China-based hackers was unleashed on the Interwebz.

Admittedly, I was skeptical to try the jailbreak at first. I didn't know anything about the people that released the jailbreak, and I was worried that by updating and trying a tool that might not work, I would lose my existing iOS 7.0.6 jailbreak.

Luckily, I have found that the jailbreak works great on iOS 7.1.1 on all of my devices. Thus far, I've updated two iPhone 4 units running iOS 7.1.1 and jailbroken them with Pangu, as well as a 64-bit iPad Mini with retina display running iOS 7.1.1, and I plan to try my iPhone 5 running iOS 7.1.1 later on once I get the chance.

So far, on every device that I've jailbroken with Pangu, everything appears to be running quite smoothly. I have also noticed big performance and speed improvements in iOS 7.1.1 over the dated iOS 7.0.6. iOS 7.1.1 has also been proven to increase battery performance, so that's another thing I'm looking forward to.

We'd like to hear about all of your experiences with Pangu thus far. We know many of you have jailbroken with Pangu already and some of you are still waiting to see what happens. If you've got the time, share some of your stories in the comments below!

If you still want to try Pangu to jailbreak your iOS 7.1-7.1.x device, you can follow our guide at this link. Also, be sure to check out our 7 considerations before updating your device and jailbreaking with Pangu!

Yeah, a lot of developers are working on updates though. No biggy! At least they'll be supported soon!

How did the jailbreak process work for you? Did it go smoothly?

My battery took a huge hit upgrading to 7.1.1 and jailbreaked it. I even see something loading in the background (in the status bar), even after killing all apps.

Anyone successfully jailbreak an iPhone 5 GSM with iOS 7.1.1 yet?

I'm curious of this, as I've heard there could be some drama with this specific device combination. I'd like to confirm.

I just did, and it worked just fine, except the things I mentioned earlier.

What tweaks aren't compatible yet? I'd like to know before upgrading.

A lot. Not necessarily full tweak incompatibilities, but small features in tweaks are broken. Some dependencies not supported. It will all be fixed in a week or two I'm sure.

But plenty of big ones are fine. I use auki and Auxo 2 and both of those work fine.

Mine have me red question marks. I updated java, windows updates, updated iTunes just incase, I cannot jail teak my 5s gsm iPhone. Maybe I'll do a restore to see if that works.

      UPDATE:

I have successfully jailbroken an iPhone 5 GSM (a1428) just now. iOS 7.1.1.

      Pangu 1.0.0 on Windows 8.1.

I just updated my up jailbroken ipad with retina (4) this weekend only to discover the wonderful news yesterday! It worked after a few tries during which I apparently unlocked the device too early. After updating to 7.1.1 my ipad seems much more responsive, so I'm stoked!

My question is this: to update my jailbroken iPhone 5 gsm on 7.0.6, will the tweaks and all be there after I jailbreak again, or will I need to do it all over? I seem to remember the tweaks and such remaining, but don't recall.

Yes, you will need to reinstall the tweaks again. You can login into your cydia account to see the themes and tweaks you purchased.

I was stuck on ios 7.0.4 and apple released a carrier update to allow the only mobile phone company in the Bahamas to enable Lte. So for the past two months I've been tempted to update and neglect the jailbreak. Yesterday when I found out that it was a legitimate Jailbreak I updated and jaikbreaked my device. So far so good I have no complaints. They did an awesome job on the jailbreak. Wish it was in English so I could donate.

All my tweaks/apps from Cydia have worked fine, except for Display Recorder. Great so far. Great until we get word that the China devs have been uploading all of our info on their servers and WW3 is on the brink
