Google Collaborates with Fashion Designer Diane von Furstenberg For New Glass Frames
For those who are into fashion, you now have a more stylish option for Google’s Glass hardware. A series of frames have been designed by fashion legend Diane von Furstenberg and have already been released. The collection is a single frame design that comes in five different colors with a detachable sunglass shade. The colors include shiny ink- a charcoal frame with black shade, matte java- a brown frame with rose shade, shiny lagoon- a teal frame with blue shade, matte ice- a white frame with green shade, and last but not least shiny elderberry- a plum frame with bronze shade.
All the combinations are priced at $1,800 and ships from online retailer Net-A-Porter and from Google directly. They are compatible with prescription lenses and come with a Google Glass module. The new frames are supposed to bring a sense of ‘fashion street cred’ to the simple and bulky eyewear, which is why Google collaborated with fashion brand Diane von Furstenberg. Google also had a similar partnership with Fossil for the Android smart watch.
Apple is also expected to make some fashion moves of its own for the rumored iWatch, which has yet to be announced by the company. Just last year, Apple hired former YSL CEO Paul Deneve as a ‘special’ advisor and in October, the company hired Burberry CEO Angel Ahrendts as the senior vice president.
