  • Popular Waze GPS App Updated With Design Improvements, More Social Features

On Wednesday, the popular third-party GPS application Waze received an update making version 3.8.0 the latest and greatest that you can download from the App Store.

The update adds a number of new features to the application, including a redesign for the ETA screen, a redesign for the main menu in the application, and a redesign for the interface used to share directions. The ETA icon now shows how many people are viewing your shared drive.

Apart from that, Waze has gotten even more social. You can now find more friends on Waze by adding contacts, add friends toy our friends list, contact friends and families from their Waze profiles, and more. If you wanted to let any of your friends or family know that you're coming, you can now share where you are with them.

A few bug fixes have been added to the application as well, including improvements to stability, and a fix for problems with the application freezing on users.

If you're an existing user of Waze for iOS, then you'll find the update under the Updates tab in the App Store application. Alternatively, you can download the latest version of Waze for iOS for free from this App Store link.

I find Waze not that great. Too often it generates truly bizarre navigation instructions. My favorite nav app for years has been Motion-X GPS Drive.

Waze does do well with crowd-shared traffic reports, but why does it need more social stuff than that? Unless they implement something like Glympse www.glympse.com to allow others to see where you are.

I use Waze over 90% of the time. If only Apple would let us pick a default Navigation App for all links and siri commands. I'm jailbroken, and the old tweak from iOS 6 days still dosen't work on ioS 7 :-(

If you use Siri, add "via transit" to your request. Then you can choose Waze from the list of apps that pops up. Not ideal, but it works.
