  • AT&T Now CANCELING Confirmed Pre-Orders


    iPhonepocalypse just went to the next level.

    We just got a message from a reader who received an email from AT&T canceling his iPhone 4 pre-order. The customer had placed his order yesterday and received a confirmation number in email. However, today he got an auto-generated email from AT&T claiming that they were "unable to verify" his information "or you have exceeded the number of lines of service that we allow customers to purchase online." A call to AT&T confirmed that they are doing this to other customers.

    The email reads as follows:

    Kyle just told me he got the same email.

    This is ugly and getting uglier by the minute.

      Look in the first column. If it says "In Progress" then you're OK.

      I'm sorry for all those missing out on the iPhone at launch. I just want to add I ordered mine at 3:00 am launch and only finally just received confirmation email. There is still hope unless you got the other email of concelation.

      just received email from ATT sayin my order was processed if they needed any info they would let me know. So looks like ill be getting my 4G on time.

      i got this same email this morning and now at 10pm est i got a email telling me my phone was orderd and everything is ok

      i had gone to a store and preordered, dumb ***** placed the order at 5pm when i had gone in there at 9am, so i am sure i will get one too, i have not even got a confirm email yet either,

      just got off the Phone with AT&T Premiere. They said I will have mine BEFORE July 3rd. My e-mail says the 24th. Now I'm pissed. I got through at 9am yesterday. I don't want it on the 3rd. I want it NOW.

      I got a similar email but when I checked my order status it still says in progress so I guess it's just a Glich....

      I think they are talking about people with new contracts, because the message says "we can not verify your information" they got the information for the people with contract already on their system.

      Apple should just sign the iPhone to Verizon and Sprint so they stop losing customers that are going to switch to tje Evo.

      Another thing I was thinking, ATT was doing pre-orders manually when the system was down, but once the system was working again they were doing the pre-orders from the system. Then the people that made their pre-order from the system are going to be first than the people that made their pre-order manually even if they were there first than the other ones. Then it is possible for that people to receive that email canceling their orders. Because they are going to appear on the system that they did it late, once they put them on the system later.

      I got that message when I tried to buy another iPhone 4 through the web site because I received nothing after the first went through.

      The order status finally updated this AM with the iPhone as In Progress though.
