  • AT&T Now CANCELING Confirmed Pre-Orders

    iPhonepocalypse just went to the next level.

    We just got a message from a reader who received an email from AT&T canceling his iPhone 4 pre-order. The customer had placed his order yesterday and received a confirmation number in email. However, today he got an auto-generated email from AT&T claiming that they were "unable to verify" his information "or you have exceeded the number of lines of service that we allow customers to purchase online." A call to AT&T confirmed that they are doing this to other customers.

    The email reads as follows:

    Dear xxxxxxxxxx

    Thank you for choosing AT&T.

    Unfortunately, we were either unable to verify the information you provided or you have exceeded the number of lines of service that we allow customers to purchase online. As a result, your order has been canceled.

    If you would like to purchase additional lines of service, please visit one of our AT&T retail locations and present your identification to our representatives. They will be happy to help you purchase new wireless devices, accessories, and service.

    We apologize for the inconvenience and look forward to serving you.

    Thank you.

    Haven't gotten a response from AT&T on a request for comment.

    Kyle just told me he got the same email.

    This is ugly and getting uglier by the minute.

      There will be blood...this is going to get real ugly really quick. I found out this morning that my reserve didnt process even though It told me "congratulations on reserving your iphone, it will be available for you to pick up at your local apple store june 24th.". That really put a dent in my morning but I can only imagine how ticked those who got that email are right now... I hope they didnt pay for the phone only to recieve that email later... but then again, this IS ATT. Should we really expect anything less than incompetence on ATT's side?

      Well it looks like Ill be arriving to my local apple store incredibly early with my lawn chair, my thermos of coffee and a box of donuts. The people at the apple store did tell me that there will be two shipments for their iphones; one specifically for those who reserved and the other are iphones that are up for grabs for first come first served customers.

      With most of you guys, AT&T should of been better prepared. Did they really think this wasn't going to cause much hype? Feeling a lot better that I decided to wait for the white iPhone as well as let all the kinks out when the JB/unlock is available

      Called AT&T and everything is good!

      Ordered mine from their website at 3am central time yesterday before their servers crashed

      glad I got mine thru apple a few hours before the apple website date changed. Confirmations that is.

      Whew, glad I decided to keep trying on Apple's site and was finally able to preorder at about 9:00 pm last night...

      Just checked the status of it and saw this:

      I'll just keep an eye on the tracking of it...

      And just in case something happens to that I also have one on reserve at my local Apple store to pick up on the 24th...

      We'll see how it goes..

      huh, and i was enveyin the ones who pre orderd it. i think that's the problem with most successful companies. when they first start, thy work hard and stuff. however, once they get soo successful and rich, their work become lesser and lesser.

      is 3g really worth that much more cash

      unlim text n data
      and no charge to teather

      I <3 my tmobile

      will drop the big bucks for a sim free phone, at&t's screwing its customers

      see me, i LOVE the camping out/waiting stupid amounts of time in line experience...i was already planning on being up and early for the iPhone! did it for 3G, 3GS, black friday and now will for iPhone 4...and im the type a guy who thinks white iPhones are for females so i dont care about white ones not being available...real sorry to all you who got orders cancelled but since you wont be getting it a day late, come join the fun and get it a day earlier than you would had!!!

      Ordered yesterday at 5pm havent gotten anything yet. too soon to tell but so far so good. hopefully they fix their issues soon. they should just halt orders until they sort out their problems now.

      ROFL at AT&T. I'm glad I left them. Its like everyday they do something else retarded. You should make its on blog called AT&T FailBlog. I'd subscribe!
