  • Another iOS 7 Lock Screen Bypass Discovered

It has been discovered recently that a new lock screen bypass in iOS 7 can allow anyone to skip the authentication method. What’s even more surprising, is that anyone can do this in under 5 seconds. It is important to note that the access one could gain on the iOS 7 device is limited and only apps that were running in the foreground before the device was locked can be accessed. However, different levels of privacy can be broken into depending on the app that is running.

In order for the method to work, there needs to be a missed call in the Notification Center and from the lock screen, access the Control Center. Launch any application then lock the device. Next, wake the device up, slide up for the Control Center, put it in airplane mode, pull down for Notification Center and click for the missed call. After doing all this, you should be able to access the app that was running before the device was locked.

The bypass was first discovered by EverythingApplePro, a YouTube channel that did a video on it. You can watch the video below:

If you are worried about this bypass, the only way to avoid anyone from doing this before Apple patches it, is to disable Control Center access in the Lock screen. It may not be the best solution, but in the meantime- this will stop others from obtaining information from your phone. This tweak does not work with iOS 8 beta, however, it won’t make a difference because iOS 8 won’t be launched until later this year.

Good thing I had Control Center disabled already because I never used it at the LockScreen. I have BioLockdown enabled for toggling Airplane mode too . Thank you rpetrich.

I would say hours of trying different combinations of things and writing them down until something unlocks it.

      Sent from my Apple TV.

I could actually see finding this one by accident. What gets me is the ones where you have to enter a certain number into the emergency dialer and press the right series of hardware button combinations. It's not like you have to actually enter airplane mode through control center on purpose before pressing the notification. It could already be in airplane mode for some reason.

Interestingly, this is fixed in the iOS 8 beta 1. The 'Missed Call' Notification on the Lockscreen is replaced with a 'You must disable airplane mode to make a call and the phone remains locked.

I always close out my apps before I lock my phone. So this doesn't bother me.

Yeah same here. If you do that it will not open to anything.

The very first thing I did with ios7 was disable notification and control center ... which I think should be disabled by default if you ask me

I tried this on my jailbroken iPhone 5 and it does not allow me to bypass my lock screen. I also tried it on my 4s and it doesn't bypass it either. Seems like it may only be a 5s issue.

I did it successfully on my niece's 5c.
