Earlier today, we showed you a jailbreak tweak called ControlCam by iOS developer Rabih M, which allowed you to control various features on your iOS device with a Bluetooth controller, such as that of a Bluetooth PlayStation controller.
ControlCam was a paid jailbreak tweak, but the same developer has also released a free tweak called BlueCam that has fewer features, but still offers some useful core functionality without all the bells and whistles.
What BlueCam will allow you to do is pair a Bluetooth controller, such as that from a PlayStation, with your iOS device, and then use certain buttons on that controller to perform certain functions on your iOS device. The features you can control, along with their button combinations, include:
- R = Turn the LED flash on or off
- O = Enable Spy mode (display brightness turned all the way down)
- L = Close the application
- X = Take a picture
As you can tell right off the bat, the feature set is much smaller than that of ControlCam, but that's what you get for the free price tag. The developer does, however, plan to add more features to the tweak in future, such as recording video, recording voice, and setting a timer to take pictures.
BlueCam adds an application icon to your Home Screen that tells you when you're connected to a Bluetooth controller and when you're not. By tapping on the question mark button, the application will tell you the button controls you can use and what they'll do for you:
If you'd like to give this tweak a try, it's available in Cydia's BigBoss repository right now at no cost. It does require iOS 7 to be installed and hasn't been tested on iPads or 64-bit iOS devices.
Requirements: iOS 7.0-7.0.6, iPhone or iPod touch
Tested on: iPhone 5 running iOS 7.0.6
