  • 'ControlCam' Lets You Use a Bluetooth Controller to Control Your iOS Device's Features

    If you've got some Bluetooth controllers laying around, such as that from a PlayStation, and you want to use it to control your iOS device's Camera without having to touch your iOS device, then check out this new jailbreak tweak called ControlCam by iOS developer Rabih M.

    This can come in handy for photographers because it'll allow you to set up your iOS device somewhere for the perfect shot, and instead of causing camera shake when you tap on the shutter button, you can wirelessly control your camera with a wireless Bluetooth controller instead.

    In this instance, after pairing our iOS device with a Bluetooth PlayStation controller, we can use all of the following button combinations and controls:

    R = Take a picture
    L = Kill the application
    Up = Increase display brightness by 10%
    Down = Decrease display brightness by 10%
    Right = Switch to Photo-shooting mode
    Left = Switch to Video capture mode
    X = Switch from back to front camera and vice-versa
    O = Turn on the LED flash (Not for iPad)
    = Turn off the LED flash (Not for iPad)
    = Set the LED flash to automatic (Not for iPad)

    The developer notes that it may be necessary to press somewhat hard on the controller buttons since the pressure sensor is set to the maximum. The tweak works with the iOS 7 Camera application on iPhones, iPod touches, and iPads whether they're 32-bit or 64-bit.

    In a future version, the developer will be adding features, such as being able to customize what each button can do, and the ability to use a Bluetooth controller to control the camera interface even in third-party Camera applications like Instagram.

    If you would like to give ControlCam a try, it's available in Cydia's BigBoss repository right now for 99. The tweak has no options to configure.
