  • QuickWidgets - An Almost Free Alternative to SmartScreen

UPDATE: The word QuickWidgets might be deceiving. This app is actually a package of QuickBirthday, QuickSMS, QuickCalendar, and QuickBoard. These apps are NOT free. Guess there should be fine print on this one. Sheesh

After SmartScreen was released only just yesterday, QuickWidgets, although somewhat beta still, has suddenly drawn some attention.

With the same idea in mind as SmartScreen, QuickWidgets offers various widgets for your lockscreen that you can manage, move, and customize to your hearts desire.

Not only can you move them around, but if you shake the iPhone, you can quickly move any of them, and even resize the widgets individually, which is something SmartScreen doesn't offer.

Now your probably wondering, well, what's so great about QuickWidgets. And the simple answer is, I have no idea. SmartScreen only just came out and I expect to see some widgets for it shortly. However, QuickWidgets comes to Cydia as a FREE app. Yup, that's right, free.

So if you don't feel like forking out the money for SmartScreen, than I recommend you check this out. In order to download this you will need to add the Cydia repository:

    isoftru.ru/beta/

Just a note, QuickWidgets is still beta.

Are there any widgets that can show your events on the calendar?

If you don`t see QuickBoard icon, just reinstall all QuickApps.

In nearest plans: twitter widget, wikipedia search, 'Events' widget improvement, and much more.

QuickWidgets will stay free. We want to release only one paid widget QuickDial.

      Tnx for help us

And yep, you can assign widgets screen on any hot key and run it over any application.

Just go to the settings —> QuickBoard —> Hot Keys

I assign QuickWidgets on double tap on status bar.

You have no mail and have no demo license on QuickCalendar and QuickBirthday 0_o

Already talking with devs about fixing it.

I wish we could use the valuable clock screen space like in previous locks screens. If we could then I would probably use it because it looks very promising.

Is there any way to save your preference of QuickWidgets?
I mean, if I have to restore my phone, I just want to install the app again via Cydia but not mess around with setting it up like I have now. It took me ages to get perfect.

I tried adding the source for this 3 times! The first time it rebooted my iPhone w/o installing. 2nd time it gave me a bunch of error messages and didn't install. 3rd time around it erased all my cydia sources and still did not install. T^T HELP! please.

woahh this has been on the beta repo since september according to the change log, wish i had tried it sooner. hopefully quickwidgets and smartscreen begin competing for features. the only reason im hesitant to use this is b.c im pretty sure the dev^ had some pretty nasty code in his quicksms app that bricked a bunch of iphones

So this installs apps that need to be paid for? I've now removed it. Smartscreen has a lot more potential and doesn't lie about being free....
