  • 'ScreenShotClip' Lets You Take Screenshots of Portions of Your Screen

It would be great if iOS came with the ability to take screenshots of only certain portions of your screen like you can in Mac OS X, but it doesn't (go figure, right?).

A new jailbreak tweak called ScreenShotClip by iOS developer JatWaston is now available in Cydia's ModMyi repository that allows you to take screenshots of a certain portion of your display. This way, you're not forced to take a screenshot of the entire display and crop it afterwards.

ScreenShotClip is Activator-based, which means you invoke an Activator action to activate the tweak. When you do, your display will become gray, and you can drag from one point on your display to another point to capture a specific section of your display. When you do this, the section you capture will float around on your display, and you can drag it around, or tap and hold on it to bring up sharing options.

The sharing options include the ability to share the screenshot section via SMS/iMessage, Facebook, Twitter, E-mail, Flickr or AirDrop, and you can even save the image to your Camera Roll, assign the screenshot to one of your Contacts, copy the screenshot to your clipboard, or open the screenshot in a compatible application. When you tap on the Cancel button, the screenshot will disappear from your display.

ScreenShopClip doesn't have any options to configure, but it does have be configured in Activator. To do this, you'll have to head over to the Activator preferences pane and assign it an action that you want to use to take a screenshot of a portion of your display:

In many ways, ScreenShotClip feels similar to a tweak called Snapper that we showed you back in February. ScreenShotClip has much more sharing options, while Snapper has more customization options. In the end, you as the user, gets to choose between function or pretty, but we're personally going to side with ScreenShotClip.

If you'd like to give ScreenShotClip a try, it's available in Cydia's ModMyi repository for just 99. The tweak also requires Activator, so if Activator isn't installed already, it will be installed along with ScreenShotClip.

Cool, but why the hell is this limited to iOS 7?
