If you've ever wished that your wallpaper would show live video from your device's rear-facing camera, then you're in luck. A new jailbreak tweak dubbed augmented
by iOS developer Alexandru Laurus is now available in Cydia that will do just that for you.
Whenever you're using your iOS device, whether you're in Notification Center, Control Center, on the Home Screen, on the Lock Screen, or putting in a passcode, you will be able to see a live video feed from your rear-facing camera, as shown above.
It's worth noting that the live video feed wallpaper works with the flash turned off, so if it's really dark wherever you might be, you won't see anything as your wallpaper except for dark, black, nothingness. On the other hand, in daylight, or room lighting conditions, this is a really sweet way to make your wallpaper really stand out.
The tweak works best when you have the same still wallpaper set as both your Home Screen and your Lock Screen, so you will want to configure that first. Once you do, you can head over to the tweak's Settings application and enable the tweak via the preferences pane for the tweak:
You can also configure after how many seconds while in an application that you want the video camera to shut off so that you're not wasting battery and creating a huge load on the device's GPU that will cause unwanted lagging when switching or closing applications. You can also blacklist the feature in any applications that you want.
The tweak doesn't seem to slow down the device any, and it works on all four-inch display iPhones. It requires iOS 7 to be installed. If you want to give augmented a try, it's available right now in Cydia's BigBoss repository for just 99¢.
