If you're a user of the popular free YouTube application for iOS, and you want to add some useful features to the application without having to shell out out the money for YouTube add-ons like ProTube or YourTube, then check out a new free jailbreak tweak called YouTube Pro by iOS developer elias.
Unlike the paid tweaks ProTube and YourTube, YouTube Pro doesn't offer video downloading. On the other hand, it does offer a number of other features that plenty of users are sure to enjoy having. Some of those features include:
- Enabling the white iOS 7 keyboard in the application all the time
- Disabling the voice search button to prevent accidental taps
- Opening Web links in Mobile Safari instead of Google Chrome
- Keeping any playing music from pausing when you open the YouTube application
- Changing the video playback quality while on a cellular network
- Blocking YouTube ads
YouTube Pro adds a preferences pane to the Settings application where you can manage all of the individual features:
Here, you will be able to enable or disable all of the features listed above. You won't have to respring after making changes to the preferences pane, but you should close YouTube from the App Switcher and re-open it again to ensure that your changes take effect.
The developer notes that YouTube Pro works best with version 2.5.1 of the YouTube application, although the features appear to work just fine with the current version of the application (2.6.0) just fine. If you would like to give YouTube Pro a try, it's available for free right now in Cydia's BigBoss repository. The tweak requires that you have YouTube installed in order for you to take advantage of all of its features. Notably, 64-bit devices are not yet supported, but support is coming soon.
