  • '7Shaders' Lets You Bring Drop Shadows to the iOS 7 Application Icons

If you're rocking iOS 7 on your device(s) and you miss the skeuomorphic application icon shadows from iOS 6, then you're in luck. A new free jailbreak tweak called 7Shaders by iOS developer Noeliel is now available in Cydia that lets you bring them back to your Home Screen, as shown above.

The drop shadows are adjustable, but shown in the screenshot above are the default values of the tweak. You can adjust the intensity level of the drop shadows from the new preferences pane that is added to the Settings application:

From here, you can enable or disable the tweak on demand, as well as use a slider to adjust the drop shadow intensity. You can tap on the value to the right of the slider to fine-tune the adjustments. There is a respring button that is included in the preferences pane that you'll have to use each time you change any of the settings.

If you would like to add those drop shadows back to your iOS 7 Home Screen for the mere aesthetic effect, then you can grab the 7Shaders jailbreak tweak for free right now from Cydia's BigBoss repository. The tweak requires iOS 7 to be installed and works on all devices including the iPhone, iPod touch, and iPad.

The drop shadows are definitely necessary for some wallpapers. The icons don't even look right with all of the stock papers.

Iconomatic does exactly the same since weeks but is much more powerful (icon overlays, theme support) and is also free !

So, what's the meaning of this senseless tweak ???
