  • Apple's Email Service Said to be Auto-Deleting E-Mail from Bulk "Mail Mergers"

Recently released reports claim that Apple’s e-mail service, contains a ‘glitch’ that stops users from receiving correspondence sent through the “mal merge” services. The e-mail services include @mac.com, @icloud.com, and @me.com A reader from Apple blog TUAW has said that Apple’s e-mail service is actively deleting maul or incorrectly filtering mail from bulk mail mergers Direct Mail, Constant Contact, and MaxBulk Mailer, just to name a few.

E-mails sent through mail merger services do not get sent back and seems to be deleted or lost permanently without the sender or recipient knowing. Oddly enough, the issue seems to be only affecting only HTML documents. The publication says that this issue has been ongoing for a ‘couple of weeks’ now, and states that e-mail headers may be the reason for the auto-deletion.

Mail mergers can be used to send out and create spam, and many companies rely on these services to send out weekly special deals and promotions, newsletters, etc. opt-in customers might be interested in. However, without a bounce back notice, vendors will never know if their customers are receiving the mailings or not. Ever since OS X 10.9 Mavericks was released in October, Apple’s Mail app has been buggy and plagued with problems tied with specific services like Gmail. Apple tried to fix their Mail issues with a maintenance update in OS X 10.9.1, but users continued to complain.

Apple has been silently trashing email for years. Their spam blocking software is pretty good (actually, not theirs -- they use Proofpoint) but I've lost a lot of legit email over the years as well.

Ever since Mavericks my mail is horrible. I used to praise Mail but no more. My good mail goes to junk, junk mail stays good, and even with the junk mail filter off it still collects junk mail. I ended up using Airmail & Spam Sieve. Not as elegant & seamless but better than losing important emails.
