  • How to Add a Fantastical Calendar Event Widget to Your Installation of ProWidgets

Last Month, iOS developer Alan Yip released ProWidgets, a new jailbreak tweak that added an integrated widget system to iOS 7. It is extensible, meaning that third-party iOS developers can create add-ons for it that users can then download and use so far, we've shown you widgets for showing music lyrics, currency conversion, translating text, and more.

A new widget is now available to download from Cydia for ProWidgets called Fantastical ProWidget by iOS developer Tim Perin that allows you to add calendar events to the Fantastical 2 calendar alternative application for iOS 7. The widget is shown above.

When you go to use the widget, you will be presented with Quick mode, which lets you set a quick event. You can tap on the word "Quick" at the top of the widget to open "Detailed" mode, which allows you to go into further detail with the event, such as setting a location, choosing beginning and ending times (or all day) for the event, and adding any notes that you want to add to the event. At any time, you can tap on the "Close" button to cancel the event you're creating.

Fantastical ProWidget requires the Fantastical 2 application from the App Store it will not work with the original Fantastical application, and it will not work with the stock Calendar application. If you don't have Fantastical 2 installed, the widget will return an error message saying that the application is required.

As we explained in our review of ProWidgets, there are several different ways of opening different widgets via the platform. If you're an Activator fan, then you can assign an Activator action to Fantastical ProWidget. Alternatively, you can use CCLoader to add a quick shortcut to Control Center, or you can configure some of the built-in ProWidgets shortcuts for Notification Center without installing more tweaks like we did below:

Fantastical ProWidget is a free download from Cydia's BigBoss repository, but it requires Fantastical 2 and ProWidgets. If you don't already have ProWidgets installed, it's a $2.99 purchase from Cydia's BigBoss repository. Fantastical 2 is a $4.99 download from the App Store if you don't already have it.
